Survival Game Showcase Early Preview

Hi, this is my first post and I was bored, so I worked on a system inspired by the ones used in Dead Mist 2 and DayZ. Note: this is not a game, but a foundation for something.

The system includes randomized conditions: Pristine, Worn, or Damaged, and these are reflected in their stats. For example, eating a damaged apple has a chance of causing sickness, or using a worn outfit makes it more prone to ripping.

What do you all think?

I’ve been working on a game inspired by DayZ and others like Dead Mist. I recently realized that Dead Mist is no longer receiving updates, which is unfortunate since it was the closest we had to a DayZ-like experience.

In my project, I’ve been replicating systems from DayZ, such as item conditions like “Pristine” and “Worn.” Currently, much of the UI closely resembles Dead Mist, but that will be adjusted over time. For now, it serves as a foundation.

This is the current UI I’ve created. It shares some similarities with Dead Mist, but I also took inspiration from DayZ. The bottom-left section displays status effects—like whether you’ve caught a cold or sustained a cut. If the cut icon appears, it means you’re bleeding. (See image above.)

Right now, there’s a chance for the player to catch a cold, but I plan to expand on this. In the future, eating raw food or lacking warmth will also trigger the disease attribute.

I’ve been working on a backpack system where you’ll need to scavenge the world to find new gear and resources. Right now, there’s a simple setup: equipping a larger backpack gives you an extra inventory slot.

Hi. I been working on the clothes and helmet system for the game and managed to make something bearable, but also functional. More helmets would be added but so far this is the foundation.

  • I added military helmets that would increase the player’s health drastically and reduce wound intake. I added hats that are pretty common to find around the map.

  • Another cool thing I worked on was a cold breath system. When roaming a cold area your player would start to become colder and their breath will be able to be seen as a result so note this when trying to engage stealthy.

  • Another cool thing is the wound system was reworked.

  1. when losing blood or taking damage your screen will begin to turn grey to give the player feedback about their pending end.
  2. You have a chance of getting a cut when engaging in combat.
  3. Bandages will be able to patch your wound, but note that you can obtain more than once cut.
  4. Blood does not auto-regenerate so eating or finding a med kit is your best option for survival

* I began working on the weapons(see last image)

Please note that this is subject to change and nothing is final. Please comment or like to support development and would you’ll like to see a game like this?
