Tales of Robloxia: The Rthropocalypse! WiP RPG

This post will get updated with new info as development progresses.

I’ve been in the works of a co-op RPG inspired by Roblox lore and real-life Roblox events. This series that I have plans to make more of someday is called Tales of Robloxia.

Background Development

Tales of Robloxia uses lore from the Official Roblox War Clans, (Knights of Redcliff, Wizards of Astral Isles, Emerald Knights of The Seventh Sanctum, Knights of The Splintered Skies, Korblox Empire, Orinthians, and Ne’Kotikoz), as well as lore from real-life events that are related to Roblox. It’s being developed as a 2 player co-op RPG, though the idea of changing it into an MMO is still on the table. It is not a classic-themed or oldschool style of Roblox game. It is, a Roblox-themed game. Roblox items dating as far back as 2006, to modern items that we can utilise today, Players will be in a world where they are surrounded by Roblox history from throughout the years.

In Tales of Robloxia: The Rthropocalypse!, the story is centered around the real-life event that happened back in 2018, when Roblox first introduced Rthro avatars. At least from my perspective, I remember the introduction being met with mixed feedback. Some players liked it, other players weren’t so sure, and there were others who flat out hated it. A lot of people didn’t like it, and I distinctly remember players talk about the fear of Roblox removing R6 avatars one day, so I decided to have that be tied into the plot of the game’s story

This game is primarily a solo project, although I do get occasional scripting assistance from @SaturnianNightmare, @N3KOM4NC3R1, and Roblox’s built-in AI coding system to modify scripts. Many scripts and functions I do have are Toolbox items, but precautions have been taken to remove anything malicious and unnecessary from the models, and they have all been further optimised to ensure the game will run smoothly.

Gameplay

Tales of Robloxia is aimed to play similar to that of a Bethesda RPG title. Players will be able to customise their characters, embark on quests, and seek out valuable loot. Tix can be obtained and earned to purchase goods from vendors. Factions can be chosen and the free will to live a good or evil life rests in the player’s hands. Players will find themselves exploring a vast open world, filled with many secrets and mysteries. Players can battle differing foes with their chosen ally by their side. Bosses can be defeated in triumph, and you can become the most powerful force of nature in the wasteland. There are many characters with deep backgrounds that players can engage with, leading to many different conversation outcomes. There’s also many different things and professions that players will be able to do throughout the world

Video showcasing my modified version of the ACS kit and weapons. The weapons are the classic black mesh guns from back in the day. The original meshes didn’t have accurate iron sights on many of the guns, but I successfully managed to fix that issue so all weapons can be aimed down the sights

There will also be upgraded versions of the military weapons that players can obtain from a… questionable resource

Story (SPOILERS)

Tales of Robloxia: The Rthropocalypse! centers around an event that occured in 2018, when Roblox had introduced the Rthro package to the world. In this game’s story, the creator of Roblox – Builderman – has decided that all bodies should be converted to Rthro, and that R6 is an old history that should be left behind. With the Orithians that have sworn oath to defend Roblox from all evil under his command, Builderman started to change Robloxia.

At first, Robloxians were unsure why their police forces would fade away over time, and people would sometimes turn up mysteriously missing. It wasn’t until the changes became more aggressive that the apocalypse really started. Orinthian soldiers would break into people’s homes in broad daylight and take them away, where they would never be seen again.

Not everyone wanted to become Rthro, so the Robloxian Resistance was formed. Consisting primarily of inexperienced volunteers, the Resistance first engaged in warfare with the Orithians during the Siege of Old Robloxia. The Resistance fighters heavily outnumbered the Orinthians, but due to lack of proper training, proper equipment, and poor leadership, the Resistance saw heavy casualties, which costed them the battle, resulting in Orinthian Victory.

After the Siege of Old Robloxia, what was left of the city was a hotzone. Any remaining residents were either killed in battle or taken alive. The Robloxian Resistance was forced to retreat Eastbound, where the new battlefield is today. The new Battlefield lays almost center between the Old Robloxia Ruins and the Orinthian-occupied New Robloxia. The new Robloxian Resistance Headquarters, formally known as Checkpoint Alpha, is located NorthWest of the battlefield, while the Orithian War Quarters are located SouthEast. The two sides are at a stalemate in battle by the time the Protagonists arrive

Being displaced by the war, many R6 Robloxian residents now reside in camps scattered along the forest. The biggest camp, Camp Blox, is considered to be the “heart” of the Resistance, since it’s between Checkpoint Alpha and Saint Sorcus Hospital. Many refugees live here, and can be an optional home for the Protagonists too. The camp is not only under protect of the guardsmen, but is also under the eye of the Resistance soldiers stationed at Camp Bravo. This makes the town too protected to be attacked unless if in a large scale battle.

As the current story is written, the Protagonists live with an individual named Ashlynn at a distant camp called Camp Cain. The story begins with the Protagonists being awoken by Ashlynn, who informs them that the camp’s elder has an emergency announcement. It gets revealed that the camp was being surveyed by an Orinthian reconnaissance team, and everyone is advised that they expect the camp to be a target. Ashlynn will ask the protagonists about leaving with her to live at one of her childhood spots that’s deemed to be safe from the Orinthians. This is where the journey will begin.

Ideas

These are ideas that I have that I want to make, but might be too ambitious for my capability

New Dialogue System:

The current dialogue system is long outdated. While most functions in the game work with ProximityPrompt, this one does not. Instead, players have to hover their mouse over the speech bubble and click it.

The current system can make it difficult to have conversations indoors/in tight spaces, has to be done in 3rd person. You are also limited to 3 short responses

I would love to get constructive criticism and feedback on this!! Thank you
