Terminated Accounts Should Retain Access to Rights Manager

(This is not an appeal post.)

I was wrongfully terminated last year, and as a result my UGC group and 2D clothing groups some of which I’ve owned for nearly a decade were locked or made inaccessible to me. Since then, all of my items have been stolen and reuploaded dozens of times over.

When I email the copyright agent, most of my takedown requests take weeks to even be acknowledged, and even longer to actually be acted on with some being ignored entirely. By the time my stolen items are removed, the thieves have already profited, and Roblox has to cover the refunds. None of the accounts / communites responsible have ever been banned, despite my many reports/ emails/ public posts. In some cases, entire groups have reuploaded nearly all of my UGC items, including every ugc item and clothing piece from my groups.

My account was terminated for ‘buying, selling, or trading Robux or virtual Roblox items outside of the Roblox website,’ despite the fact that I never engaged in that activity, never broke TOS and had no moderation actions on my account. The only payouts made were to contributors working on my groups, and approximately 80-90% of my income was DevExed. None of the users who received Robux from my groups were ever banned for those payouts. I never recieved any explanation for the enforcement, and all my appeals were denied instantly or ignored.

As a result, I lost my primary source of income, while stolen reuploads of my work continue to generate significant revenue for others. This is not an isolated situation, and similar cases have affected dozens of developers who were terminated under “platform selling” for making large, legitimate payouts.**

I was wrongfully terminated, and as a result I’m unable to properly protect my own work.

The current system favors those who reupload and profit from stolen content, while original creators have limited resources. Over the past decade, my team and I have created hundreds of UGC items and 2D clothing assets from scratch, many of which are now being reuploaded and monetized by others. The only available path, emailing the copyright agent is slow and inconsistent, and in some cases does not result in action at all. Without access to Rights Manager, terminated creators are left with slow and unreliable alternatives that aren’t effective at protecting their work.
