Texas Hold 'Em

Played this for 10 minutes and I became really convinced that someone could make a lot of money with a casino game on ROBLOX.

I think the avatar-based slow-paced social game is something that could really work on ROBLOX.

I wanted to make Texas Hold 'Em.

:frowning:

Actually I think the slam dunk would be “Work at a Casino”.

Great idea, free of charge. Go make a hundred thousand dollars now.

Haha, maybe.

Was playing that game for a while. People just bet on money so I end up leaking chips. That isn’t a great way to play. Doesn’t let people win based on cards.

If someone will do the scripting, I’ll make the interior of the Lucky 38 casino OR the Sierra Madre’s casino.

If someone does the scripting and building I’ll happily play the game. c:

Edit: I broke something http://i.imgur.com/MSH2qjP.png

Edit: After playing the game a little bit I found the infinite number of chips made any risks pointless, I also felt somewhat detached from the table, floating high above it the cards feeling small, I really like how watch dogs does it (http://i.ytimg.com/vi/56j-6gM8TEs/maxresdefault.jpg). Aside from that it took me a couple rounds to notice where the controls were, after that I had a little bit of fun, though one person would just keep raising no matter their cards.

This isnt the poker I know.

Literally was just clicking random buttons and winning without knowing why e_O …and losing

Yeah. You played against my sister and I watched her, facepalming all the way. She doesn’t know how to play Poker, but it’s cool that she gave it a try.

If you could buy money to stake with robux, would that be gambling? You wouldn’t get robux back, after all. It would be all play money

I don’t know how you would make a pure casino game. You’d have to have some way to buy chips, but not with Robux. You can’t give infinite chips because that’s just boring. You can’t just assign everyone x amount of chips when they start because what happens when they run out? Do they have to play it on a new account then? You can’t give them back the starting amount either because that means that there isn’t any risk in losing. This would fit better as a minigame inside of a roleplaying game with an existing type of currency that you can earn.

I once started a casino game actually (but never finished - as with all my side projects) which also inlucdex Texas Hold 'Em.

I stopped working on this because I feared this was against the rules. Besides that, I’m sure you can make money from this. You give people an unsufficient amount of chips every day. They can play on the “low” tables (which dont give you a lot of prize money) or on the “high” tables (where the stakes are higher). They will lose money so fast, they need to buy more.

Give them a daily amount and then give them the option to buy more if they want? And then you could add some goal to getting more chips apart from the gambling, maybe cosmetic items or custom card decks, or just a rank on the leaderboard depending on how many chips they have.

The only thing I dislike about this poker game is how if two players get the same sets, it splits the money between them instead of awarding it to the person with the higher-value cards.

You’d have to get some sort of staff confirmation that purchasing of in-game currency is allowed. AFAIK that’s frowned upon, even if it’s not the primary method of acquisition. Daily income is a good idea though.

I feel like it may go against the rules… since some gambling is illegal and in most casino’s it’s illegal for under 18’s to gamble I believe… j/s

It’s not gambling though. Gambling involves real life currency – this game does not. If you allow them to purchase it with Robux then it’s illegal because Robux are bought with real money which means that they’re a form of real currency, but if you don’t allow the purchase of them with Robux you’re fine.

That just feels like another loophole. It still promotes the idea of gambling with some form of currency nevertheless. Even if it isn’t a currency which has any value.

Gosh can’t a guy have fun with his chips without having to worry about it being illegal?

It’s a game. Sure ROBUX can cost money to obtain, but it’s not like you can cash out in-game winnings in that poker game for real money, or even for ROBUX.

ROBUX aren’t real-life currency. It’s also not gambling if there’s no chance of earning your ROBUX back. There’s nothing illegal about making a casino in which you buy chips with ROBUX. The Developer Product blog post also said it was okay to sell in-game points with them. Any sort of controversy around this is stupid. It’s fine. If you disagree, refer to my avatar.

What avatar?
