The dissapearance of player names & chat from screenshots, any way to bring it back?

Idk where else to ask about this, but I haven’t seen anyone discussing this on the internet, I can’t find any information regarding it on Google either, so I feel like I’m insane for being the only one noticing it. I’m not quite sure when it all started, but at some point a few years ago, Roblox screenshots stopped showing player names & chat when a screenshot was taken.

Is there a way to bring player names on screenshots back? That way, it’s easier for others to tell who is who and perhaps even what the context is based on chat when I share my moments with my friends. Surely, I’m not the only that gets super bothered by the removal of chat & names from screenshots, screenshot reporting becomes pointless too without it. Is there actually a way to make it so player names & chat to show on screenshots/captures like old ones? I don’t like the removal of it.

  3. What solutions have you tried so far?:
As of now, I work around it using the Snipping Tool app, but it doesn’t give me a screenshot that captures my entire screen and I have to save it manually. I wish we didn’t have to do this.

Hello! I work on this feature. To give some background context, we remove core gui, experience gui, the chat window, and any nameplates/billboards to help declutter the screenshot.

I hear what you mean by how the functionality removes the context from the screenshot. Some screenshots make much more sense with nameplates and chat included. I’ll make a note of this for my team, but to be transparent, I would say that the likelihood of allowing the chat window and usernames in the capture is pretty low in the near future due to some requirements we have for the feature.

The alternative of using the snipping tool is probably the best one, especially if there’s a keyboard shortcut that can help you get the screenshot you’re looking for quickly. There are also some experiences which use CaptureService APIs to allow the user to take the capture, which can include nameplates and the chat window. For example, Dress to Impress has this functionality today.
