I have been making my game (Seal Your Fate), I have been building, scripting with help from tutorials, drawing, creating items but now everything that was simple to do is exhausted all that’s left is difficult systems and animations with a lot more building… I don’t have feedback nor a playerbase, I’m lost, so many things I want to do but no experience, no budget, no time. All I want from you dear forum user is to aid me, of course not with the game itself but just give tips and directions where should I start gameplay? Lore? Who knows but one thing is sure, it’s not me.
First off, I like the style of the game, the vibe, the building style, etc. When I first joined the game, I was very confused on what the game was (I later found the tutorial, maybe you should spawn the player orientated so they’re facing the tutorial). I’m guessing this is some sort of story/exploration game, and that the only objective is to get different endings? Some of the teleporters I went to were obvious that they would take me somewhere, but other times I would just randomly be sent to a different place. I didn’t get any endings because sometimes I was confused on where exactly to go, I would do big obbies to get to places, and then make one mistake, fall, and be sent to a different place (This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it was frustrating to me at least). Gameplay and lore wise I feel like there should be some sort of story, so that maybe there’s a larger objective I’m working towards (not necessarily a physical objective, could be trying to find something out). Also all the npc’s just confused me(I get that it’s meant to be like that), they would tell me stuff which I assume you would find out later, but there was no larger context to anything, and none of the different dialogues seemed to relate. I think this game has high potential, and there’s definitely a player base for it (not really my kind of game though). The game seems like one of the roblox creepy pasta games, so maybe to market it you could try get youtubers to play it (I don’t really recommend spamming them though), or you could try make short form content (tiktok, youtube shorts, instagram reels, etc) to try and get people interested. I don’t know what or how to give suggestions on gameplay, because I’m not really entirely sure what the game is about (maybe make some of the obby bits a bit forgiving (if you mess up) or move obvious). This is just my opinion, and I’m sure that if you had playtesters, many of them may find it more obvious/have different opinions.
Side note, some of the interactive stuff did nothing (like the subspace tripmine on heights)? Also, idk if this intentional but you have gear enabled in the main game, as well as HD admin purchasing on (i.e you can purchase admin directly from creators HD admin and get admin in your game (I think, maybe wrong, idk how hd admin works)).
For the buyable admin thing I have no clue what’s that about I’ll look into it. Other than that I am trying to do more lore and make things somewhat linear. My intention is to make a somewhat difficult game with snippets of lore here and there. Also don’t be so sure about testers I only got 2-3 devs to give me feedback and some players to just play it. By the way I am confused by “it looks like one of those creepypastas” do you perhaps mean myth? Such as the Smiles Family ect… Anywho as for npcs I admit they were pretty sloppy I will eventually rework them. Also the subspace tripmine does do something it’s just very sneeky if you want you could try to find it! (Hint: look on the side closest to the lone island.)
I am working introducing the story in-game but I did already make something in my group Crysto’s crystal for the game. One last thing I promise, there are only two endings one very hidden and the other one accessible by going into trap levels and taking too long or by finding the rot inside pink sky (spawn).
Thank you for your time and feedback.
