The makeup template given on resources does not match the catalog thumbnail head

i found this out when i was trying to fix my heads cage and use like the same cage that was in the documentation to later find out that its not even the same one and end up with still looking weird makeup on my custom head

so i tried to investigate why it doesnt match

and cause of that if you try to make ur own custom makeup, it woudlnt look good on the thumbnail head, and would look like triangulated mess like on roblox’s official bundles like for example, the official makeups look good on the roblox’s bundles, but the custom doesnt, almost looks like the triagulation on the basecolor, or the transfer mesh, i dont know really, was messed up

also an example of how the custom makeup vs the roblox makeup looks like on my custom head and its cage (maybe a little help on cage is needed cause it kinda still looks wobbly comapred to roblox’s official bundle)

the used eyes makeup for this:

Page URL: https://create.roblox.com/docs/makeup#resources

so like i expect like an other resource file that has that same thumbnail head that i can use to make makeup on, or use as a base/refrence to cage my other heads

Hello @ryzieisq ! To make sure that I’m on the same page, are you saying that you swapped your character’s head cage with the template head cage in the documentation and found these issues?

yeah, i fitted the cage to my head, tried to make it similar as possible,

but also i tried to investigate it futher and like found out that for some reason when the cage transfers the uv onto the head, it messes up and makes the texture all looking weird on the new uv head, no matter how the cage looks honestly

(this is how the cage looked like probably)

its really similar to the data transfer modificator (with settings uv → nearest face) in blender and i kinda tried to replace it lol

but for some reason the exported eye makeup was bigger then the template makeup and i coudlnt put it onto the cage

Thank you for sharing your makeup assets and your feedback! Because all three makeup assets fit properly on the template head, the makeup issues that you’re experiencing appear to be related to caging. All head cages must be properly fitted onto the avatar’s head to work correctly, you wouldn’t be able to swap a head and have it work 1:1 with the geometry of your character. When you swap a head, you can run into alignment issues between the cage and the head mesh, which I suspect is what happened in your case.

Could you send over an .rbxm of your assets so we can dive deeper? From the screenshots you sent, it seems like either a caging issue or the head’s WrapTarget is still set to the other cage.
