"The Monster" - Feedback for round based infection game

Hello all, Im looking for feedback on my core game mechanics. I just made this newly this week.

Inspirations:

  • “the thing” 1982 and thought the infection game mechanic was interesting to think about.
  • murder mystery type games (monster vs survivors)

Here’s my game mechanics so far:

  1. Monster “Stealth Infect”
  2. Monster “Attack”
  3. Human “Knife Throw”
  4. Human Reviving downed players
  5. Dead Humans will respawn as Monsters, and Monsters respawn on death

(Game is meant to be played on a server between 12-16 people)

How can I make the core gameplay loop more FUN?

Looks interesting!

  1. Lobby info: I feel like some information needs to be added to the lobby, like “Waiting for the match to start.” When I first joined, I didn’t understand what to do or why nothing was happening. Only later did I notice that a new round was about to start and other players spawned in.

  2. Teleport zones: The teleport areas look a bit too cramped and tight.

  3. Tutorial needed: I think it would be great to add a short tutorial. I joined the game just like 90% of casual players do—with zero desire to turn my brain on and try to figure out a new game. And well, I couldn’t figure it out! I got killed a few times by people throwing knives at me, even though I could only use my knife for melee attacks.

  4. "Also, on one of the arenas, the toilet stall doors have no collision, which looks weird. It would be better if they actually opened.

I also need a bit of help with testing — could you check out this thread?

True, the core gameplay loop isnt the most obvious for your 1st time playing, probably. Could be better
