The Prism Patch Notes 4/21/2021

New Game Mode: Push Ball (BALL)
Based on the Roblox clan sport popularized by clans such as LSE, Push Ball is played very similarly to soccer, but instead you have weapons. The details, for those unfamiliar, for the new game mode are listed below:

  • A large ball will spawn in the middle of the map.
  • Players must push the ball towards the enemy’s “Goal” to score a point.
  • Once a team has scored a point, all players will respawn and the ball will regen back in the middle of the map.
  • First team to reach the set amount of Max Points for the round wins!
  • If the ball ever gets stuck or glitches out, Admins can type “:regenball” to have the ball respawn itself back into the center of the map.

Push Ball has been enabled for two maps so far - City, and a brand new map titled “Solstice Push Ball” (which was made specifically for this game mode)! More maps will be given functionality to play Push Ball eventually.

GUI Overhaul
The Prism was released with a temporary UI design. While work is being done to update all of GUF’s GUIs, we figured we’d outfit The Prism with better-looking (still likely-to-be temporary) GUIs in the meantime, taken from the since-abandoned “Blackout of Grand Celeste” project.

  • Game UI: The overhead Game UI, which displays all of the round information, now changes/looks slightly different based on the mode being played, in order to ensure all information for the specific round is properly being displayed. A “Hide” / “Show” button has also been added, and by default (even during intermission) the GUI will remain visible.

  • Side Menu UIs: A hexagon design has been applied to each of the UI buttons on the left of the screen. This is to allow for uniformity in design and to take up less space on the player’s screen.

  • GUI Animation: Tween Service has been used so that, instead of a frame becoming instantly visible, a short animation/change in position of the GUI will play when activating it.

Check Your Prestige In-Game!

  • Using an open-sourced script from Clan Labs, players can now see how much Prestige they have by clicking on the “Check Prestige” button in The Prism!
  • Upon clicking the button, you will be shown your current prestige count and how much more prestige is necessary for you to earn in order to reach the next rank.
  • Players can check their prestige count once every 60 seconds.

New Maps
Six new maps have been added into the Prism, each one supporting most of the main game modes. The names of them are as follows:

Map Changes

  • Kirstey’s Hospital: Made the spawn area smaller and added invisible barriers to prevent players from camping it during the Deception mode.
  • Maze Map: If players try to escape/glitch through the map, they will be eliminated.
  • Grand Melee Arena: Fixed an issue where touching the grass would sometimes cause the player to die.

Obby Leaderboard Bug Fixes

  • Obby Leaderboard scroll bar now reaches all the maps.
  • Obby tabs should no longer disappear after rounds have ended (if this still occurs, make sure you let hisokachan know in the bugs channel)

General Updates

  • For the OBBY Game Mode, Player Collision is disabled; this means you can now walk through players and it prevents people from trying to block/stop others from completing the obby.
  • For the HIDE Game Mode, a black blinder will enable for the Seeker for the first 30 seconds that the Hiders are hiding.
  • The Arsenal guns are now massless, meaning equipping the gun should no longer negatively affect player movement.
  • Removed the lobby statues from the February Obby/Map Building Competition (credit is still given when the winners’ maps are loaded)

General Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where players sometimes wouldn’t respawn after a round had been ended.
  • Fixed an issue where, for some game modes (SWAP, SOUL), the win notification GUI/sound would not show up/play properly sometimes.
  • Fixed certain sounds not loading in, including the HEX “hit” sound and some of the Avicii music (these sound ids were content deleted and replaced with other sounds); this will also result in the “Failed to load Sound Data” error from spamming the Dev Console.
  • The overhead Game UI should no longer randomly disappear for some players.
  • Sniper kills now properly show in the kill feed what team the killer is on (killer names were previously colored gray).
  • Random floating light in the lobby is no longer randomly floating.

Future Updates to Look Forward to

  • Sparring Arena: The back door at the spawn will open up and lead to another room that houses different sparring pads. The scripting for it is ~90% finished, and the building for the lobby is currently underway. Expect an ETA within the next few weeks!
  • Sword Fight on the Heights: The SFOTH Map is slated to be added with working special sword spawners (eg. Darkheart, Venom Shank, Firebrand, etc.), and a future Game Mode that uses each of these special swords might also end up being implemented (eg. “Sword Game”, similar to how the popular “Gun Game” Game Mode works).

Known Issues
We are aware that some weapons ‘break’/stop working sometimes when the player is respawned. Unfortunately, because of the group lock it was difficult to view the Developer Console to see why this happened, so these bugs haven’t been mitigated. We will look more into them over the coming weeks leading up to our next title update.

As always, make sure to post in the bugs channel if you encounter any issues, and if you have any ideas or feedback for The Prism please let us know in the suggestions channel or by DMing me.
