The removal of static heads will kill roblox

This is FEEDBACK

I’ve been seeing more and more people talking about Roblox banning static heads and even removing them from players’ inventories. And honestly? It’s exhausting. It feels like every time the community expresses what they want, Roblox does the exact opposite. They ask for feedback, but they never actually listen to it they only listen to whatever makes them the most money.

It makes me miss classic Roblox so much. There was a time when the platform felt fun, comfortable, and familiar. Now it feels like we’re stuck in this dystopian version of the game where everything is being stripped away or replaced with something “modern” that nobody asked for. The updates don’t feel like improvements they feel like corporate decisions made behind closed doors, with no regard for the people who actually play the game.

And the worst part? So many players use static heads because they miss the classic faces. They miss the charm, the personality, the simplicity we had before all of this. Roblox keeps trying to force everyone into this new “brand image,” but the community has been screaming for years that they want the old style back. Instead of listening, Roblox keeps removing more and more of what made the platform special.

Every update feels like it’s about monetization not creativity, not nostalgia, not community. It’s always about squeezing more money out of the people who give them that money in the first place. The players who built this platform, who stuck around through every change, who made Roblox what it is today… we’re treated like background noise.

And yeah, I’m mad. I’m frustrated. I’m tired of watching a company pretend to care about feedback while ignoring every single thing the community actually says. I’m sure some staff member will reply to this later with a generic, copy‑and‑paste response about “improving the platform experience,” but that doesn’t change the fact that Roblox keeps removing the things we love.

If Roblox is going to ask for feedback, they need to actually use it not ignore it, or pretend it doesn’t exist.

I agree that removing static heads will kill Roblox.

I think the classic face removal will have done more damage than the upcoming ugc head removal so I doubt it would “kill roblox”

another thing is if you think every update is about monetization rather than creativity you should probably check notifications more often
also how does one make an update about nostalgia when updates are the opposite of nostalgia

every update is about monetization do you really think they care about creativity :joy::joy:

But will it really? For a large amount of faces, it’s a meaningless visual change.

I find as a community we really love getting worked up over small updates that have been in the works for years - Roblox wanted facial animation, they’ve put a lot of money into it, and now they want that capability on all avatars so creators on the platform can utilise it.

As with every change Roblox makes, they are simply trying to push the platform forward.
I’m not against this update.

You know, I’d love for games to animate my Roblox face and give my character more expression, especially story driven games, or even a game like Bloxburg, wouldn’t it be cool if it animated your facial expression to match your mood in-game? The face tracking feature is funny as hell in social hangouts as well.

Maybe that doesn’t match your idea of the “Roblox” style, and that’s fair enough. You can turn facial animation off in the avatar editor in the Universal App.

They really do need to fix up some of these faces though because what the hell is this:

Roblox is more stubborn than a mule. They’re not going to change their decision at this point because it looks weak to investors.

They spent four years developing this, what will it look like to investors if they scrap it. They have a really easy fix here and they wont do it:

user choice

“Yeah lets maintain 2 face systems that sounds like an amazing use of engineer time and effort.”

They’ve tried to give you the choice, its not like they’re forcing you to use Rthro heads. You still retain the faces you had before the update (even if some look like shit). You can still turn off the facial animation.

Maintaining an if path that creates a decal on a classic mesh is not massive technical debt. I dont know how it works under the hood but I cant imagine its more than 20 lines of code.

I still think it might be confusing for new developers who come on to the platform though. There being 2 different ways a face is handled on the platform, imagine trying to build an avatar editor without knowing that information.

Though, decal faces are much easier to switch out in something like an avatar editor. It’s a win/lose situation for all.

Either way, it causes more fragmentation which is something I think Roblox would rather avoid. Especially on a system super core to Roblox like avatars.

even if you can turn off the facial animations it still looks terrible.. My whole point is that people pay for these stuff and roblox removes it.

Thats still forcing it. it shouldnt look like “shit” if its a huge company. if they spent so much money on an update they should have really done better with it.

every update roblox has done is about monetization. every fucking update. sure it wont kill roblox but itll make them lose so much more sales like they have been for a while. So many people have spent so much money making the static heads and people have spent so much money buying them. if they really cared about their communites theyd refund everything

of course not why would I

what about the recent update with unions that lets you use meshparts
thats not about monetization is it

Roblox as a company doesn’t actually make a net profit, of course they’re going to want to further monetise the platform.

“The removal of static heads will kill roblox” Friend, you can’t kill something that’s been dead for a long time.
