It’s been a while since I’ve engaged in development actively on ROBLOX, but this change has brought me back as it’s going to effect me negatively in a massive way, and I want to voice my opinion, in the hopes that the change isn’t brought in, even though I’m aware the deadline for the change has been extended. From 2018 to 2021, I created and uploaded over a 100 classic clothing items to the marketplace (both pants, and shirts) that have seen me to today earning around 150-200 USD each year passively. Though it’s not a significant amount, it has been a useful source of income for me, considering I’ve not had to put in any work since creating those items initially. This change means I now need to spend at minimum 144 EUR a year to even be able to earn the robux to cash out. It essentially means, that to continue earning on roblox, I will be losing money (or at the very least earning a negligible amount, that’s not worth the risk of the 144 EUR I’d be spending each year).
This change seems extremely hostile to both active and inactive artists like myself using the platform to sell their art. While this change is one that is essentially reverting to the way the marketplace’s monetisation functioned in years prior; it is also a change that comes while maintaining the upload fee introduced after.
Why is this change is being made is clear; it’s more money for ROBLOX, but at the cost of betraying the artists who support the platform with their work. I’d urge ROBLOX to reconsider how this change the publishing policy.
