The Usage Of ChatGPT?

Is chatgpt even worth it when im trying to code something but don’t know how to code it? if so, how I should use it to learn scripting quickly and effectively?

Watch a youtube series on coding. Come up with something you want to code, and start working on it. At first, say you’re trying to learn how to use Datastores. Go to the developer wiki for that and look at the methods. When you are trying to understand or learn about a new thing, don’t immediatly go to ChatGPT, often it likes to make things up.

Yes, ChatGPT makes a lot of things up sometimes. Like it’ll start coding with services that aren’t even in Roblox studio.

When I learn something new it’s kind of similar to what @AC_Starmarine said. For me when I try to learn, I don’t immediately hop on chat GPT, because then you just don’t feel like you’re grasping the knowledge to fully understand the concept. For example: Run service. I first look up tutorials on YouTube so I get the main jist of how that whole service works so that I can potentiality use later in my future projects. I recall that info by practicing in Roblox studio, making small mini projects and using the roblox doc for more information. Once you can fully explain it without the use of tutorials, then you could probably use ChatGPT, but I don’t recommend doing that unless if you’re pretty experienced at what you can do which I’m not.

The usage of ChatGPT is extremely bad, its code is very bad. The best way to code is learning, no matter what platform or language you use.

yea you are right about that lol XD

There are some use cases that ChatGPT does help infact. Personally I use it on something that might be tedious and annoying to do manually. However, don’t rely on the raw code it gives, better to check through to make sure it looks normal, and doesnt use the fake services and whatnot.

Its not entirely bad practice as long as you dont overuse and rely on it to script everything.

So if i was confused of some code that I didnt know how to make or confused of a service that I haven’t tried yet, I go to the roblox docs or the youtube tutorials to get a better understanding, right?

Correct, then apply that knowledge for any project you make in studio.

According to the Pareto Principle
20% of effort = 80% of the results

I hope you have a good day, sir!
