Apparently, the robot responds to requests by sending a random email template.
I’ve spent a lot of time and money creating a new playground game. All models have been carefully modeled from scratch in Blender. I was inspired by a Roblox game that constantly has 1,000 - 2,000 visits. I think I’ve done much better, but it doesn’t matter. The game received 50 visits from Roblox in two weeks and ended up in junk content. Then I made teleports from my other games into it, but they have different themes and poor retention.Apparently, the game has received some kind of shadow ban. It is not displayed by tags and its genre has not been determined by Roblox so far. I wrote to the support service and got a completely insane answer unrelated to my question.
Did you reply to the support email? They might get back to you and fix whatever issue.
All that said, I do see some issues with your game:
“Tags” in your description don’t mean anything to Roblox, and in fact, is considered spam and bad meta data. Best to remove them and write a description that accurately explains your game while weaving in key words.
I love the game generally, a nice concept, a bouncy island.
I’m noticing it’s difficult to get around and the other real options are animals you can’t control, and then stuff that costs money (teleporting & speed coil and whatnot).
Love how certain things fling you about, but a ragdoll there would be even better I think. Love on the devforum here about that, but it might be too much work.
the zoom out distance is limited on the camera, and I’d like to look around at everything. You can change the max camera distance in starterplayer area in studio IIRC.
The UI is a bit inconsistent with the flat color on the orange collectible thing versus the “shop” UI.
players seem to leave the game quite quickly, maybe no sense of direction. Having the starting area be a part of the wider map might help, but also points of interest to check off on a list? That and maybe a slightly faster way to move around, like shift to sprint. Or, more novel ways to travel like a toy car.
The game would be fun in VR I think. Anyway, hope that all helps.
The problem is that the game has no players. Everyone who visits the game has teleported into it from my other games with a completely different theme. Therefore, retention is very low.
Apparently all appeals are humans, but I guess this isn’t appeals. Anyway, yeah, if it is a robot, your best bet is to reply to the robot. It’s not all robots, so hopefully you get lucky enough.
Why your game doesn’t get players though is likely a layered issue. Things in and out of your control.
As for players, you can use the Ads Manager with the default options to get the most impact. Do it for like a week on default ad credits (not higher cause more expensive), and that should probably get the players.
The issue would be retaining players and making improvements though before you spend too much. Looking at analytics is important.
it sucks but that’s game dev. getting eyes on things is difficult or costs money
I will listen to you and continue to communicate. I will post the results here. Maybe we can help those who want to create a Roblox game without wasting their time.
So after almost two weeks, I got this answer. As I said, the robot responds with random email templates. There are no real people there, and it’s useless to write there. I hope my experience will serve as a lesson for novice programmers who want to create an game in Roblox. Guys, your disappointment will be directly proportional to how much effort and time you spend on the game.
Shot in the dark, but @Hooksmith could you look into this thread and the OPs issue with support?
Maybe forward it to the people who’d be able to help more on this side of things? I’m not sure, but this all sounds like a demoralizing example of support that could be improved.
Hey, could you write a bug report about this issue if you think this is a bug?
Use the “Report Bug” button on the forum homepage to get started. Please add sufficient details according to our bug report guidelines. It would help to include CS ticket numbers in the private message content.
