Go to the FAQ and search for ‘?’. How can you call it an FAQ if there’s no questions?
What are the questions? We’re not psychic.
-What is the daily post limit?
-What is the daily like limit?
-How can we increase our trust level (did the requirements change from the default)?
-What is the daily bookmark limit (preferably this would be removed though)?
-How to create polls (you can link them here)?
-How many flags does it take to hide a post (default 3?)
In addition to @EchoReaper’s questions:
Why can’t we change our avatars?
Why can’t we change our profile backgrounds?
Why can’t we change our user card backgrounds?
Why can’t we change our title?
Why can’t we change our name?
Does our automagically-generated ROBLOX avatar ever update if our site character changes?
Why have badges been removed?
Why is there a daily bookmark limit?
Why does the ‘Suggested Topics’ at the bottom of each thread shows threads I created months ago?
We are still moving into our new home here and will be decorating things like the FAQ as we start to settle in. If you do have questions about the new forum, please feel free to ask them. We’ll try to answer as many as we can, although we are still learning about this forum as well. Any that we feel will apply to many people, we will add to the FAQ.
Continuing the discussion from There is not a single question in the FAQ:
I can answer a few of these.
As part of the single sign on, we wanted to create a stronger link between developer’s presence here on the forum and on ROBLOX. To do this, names and avatars carry over from the main site to here automatically. If you change your name or appearance on the ROBLOX.com site, you can simply log out here and then log back in to have your avatar image and name updated to the latest version.
We disabled custom profile backgrounds because, with the new forum, all ROBLOX accounts can log into here and update their profile information and there is no sufficient method to moderate what content is uploaded and publicly visible on user profiles. I’m sure you can image what issues might arise from that.
Badges were limited to better reflect actions we would like forum members to participate in. With badges like “Make 100 posts”, some members were simply creating a large number of meaningless posts, cluttering up the forums with useless information rather than contributing to the discussions, simply to get a badge. We had hoped this was not going to be an issue, but within minutes of going live, there were already a number of badge farming threads on the forum. Rather than trying to police this behavior, we chose to remove badges that were leading to undesirable behavior on the forums.
Can’t you restrict uploading profile backgrounds to full members+?
Not as an option. Would require modifying the forum. Feels like allocating lots of time to hacking in permission-backgrounds might not be the best use of time for the web team.
With Discourse’s reputation for permissions/options I thought they would have included restricting that to certain trust levels. I guess not.
