Things to add to a roleplay game

So, for the past 4 months I’ve dedicated my time to a new game, which is a roleplay game :

Lately, I’ve been thinking of things I should add to the game, so that players would have a reason to play, and spend time in the game doing something that in the end would give them pleasure.
I’ve received a lot of feedback from my friends, saying that the game doesn’t have too much stuff in it to do, therefore it becomes boring to play.

I’ve tried inspiring from other few similar games such as Adopt me, or Life in Paradise, but with no success, I can’t get how those games can have a huge amount of players, with such a simple game concept.

However, I decided to make a thread on the devforum to ask for opinions and help from other experienced developers or players that could have some ideas.

In conclusion, what should I add to the game so, it would actually make it less “boring” ?

To make these types of games less “boring” I would add player interactive events or keep pushing out updates.

A thing you can also do is like adopt me, have live events with like countdowns to build up the hype.
