"This experience is restricted" when attempting to join public games

I’ve tried joining a few games, notably 2 of them, Voxlblade and Trucking Tycoon Enhanced and Expanded. For whatever reason, on PC, I get the following messages:

I’ve even tried the app itself rather than the browser and some of these games appear as unavailable, even not showing up in the experience search:

I’m using the release preview of the latest windows insider build and I’ve tested on mobile to see if these games work as well, Trucking Tycoon works but Voxlblade doesn’t seem to support mobile, thus it doesnt show up at all. Thought it could be a country restriction (I don’t think ROBLOX is restricted in Portugal?) but it seems not.. Could it be possible the pc version of ROBLOX thinks I’m using another device rather than a computer since I have access to neither? I’m using a windows handheld like a PC, it has special software that detects the built-in controllers, yet in the past this was never a problem with Windows and only seems to happen recently.

No, it’s not a content filter. Mine’s set to allow “restricted” games. I’ll update with more information if I can find it.

Expected behavior

I expected to be able to join these games through the roblox website, or even be able to view them in the roblox app in windows.

Further updates

Not even RoPro’s official verification game works

Also I forgot to add, I’m using the release preview of the latest windows 11 insider build, if that adds to the problem.

whats your content maturity setting?

I’ve never touched it, remains the same.

So I tried using the app itself and

I too also get this, not sure why…

I switched back to a previous version of Windows 11 and it worked, I think its specifically a problem with the windows 11 insider program preview version.

I’m not on a windows insider build, although it might be a problem with Handheld PC’s or something. I have a ROG Ally X i do work on.

That’s weird, but changing back to stock windows 11 did fix the problem for me. Definitely some kind of weird bug where ROBLOX detects the PC as a console.

did yall ever fix this :broken_heart:

im on asus rog ally aswell and i cant join alot of games

So I went back to Windows 11, did the steps to enable xbox full screen experience and I can’t join certain games again. I’m sure its somehow connected to windows’ new gaming experience thingamajng, roblox seems to think we’re on console which… I guess is true but still.

Are you also using the xbox full screen experience? Because that could narrow things down a lot.

i dont think im using the full screen experience, ive checked in the settings and it seems disabled.

this guy says it only happens with games that arent available on xbox and like you said roblox detects we are on a console

ive contacted roblox support and hopefully they’ll push an update soon to fix it

okay apparently its intentional, and they said they dont have plans to change it back

okay i just fixed it, i changed the registry key device type to 3 which is desktop, and now it detects my device as a pc yay

where is that registry key located? i think its lame roblox is forcing these handhelds into console-only games, even if they are technically in a console format.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\OEM
