When a company fails to innovate, it changes.
Roblox’s UI change is a symbol of the platform’s inability to innovate. What used to be a market of decently-thought out games with inspired gameplay loops and talented minds behind them, has become a cash cow slop show for the public’s eyes. And the public gobbles up the slop from their slop troughs. They clap, and yell “Encore!” from the farm they are kept in. Entombed by rot.
Not a single feature of this new UI was asked for. It erases years, even decades, of muscle memory for developers on the platform. It pokes the bee’s nest for no good reason.
The icons are too small, while their backgrounds are too large. The color is painful to look at. All the options are switched for zero reason. The icon images are too similar to tell the difference at a quick glance. The script editor has the AI image tint. And worst of all, the UI actively removes features from the old one. Their excuse? “We made it modular!”
If I take a lovely, gourmet steak, cooked by Ramsay himself, toss it onto a grill, then burn it to a crisp, while adding some A1 sauce onto it, that does not make the steak better. I need to keep it the same, THEN add the A1 sauce.
On the devforums, OFFICIAL ROBLOX STAFF have replied to posts addressing these concerns with “We haven’t seen any negative comments!”
This is a lie. They have seen every negative comment. There were over 200 on that post alone. A post created on the fifth of January, 2026. A hundred more appeared, many in reply to that post. Not a single one is positive.
UI/UX designers will tell you that this change is “good”. That it fulfills its purpose. They believe you are stupid. They believe your eyes deceive you. They want you to believe that. The march of capitalism has reached its turning signal, and both roads are shrouded by rain.
