i used to love that game when i was 10, but now i’m not and most of the community isn’t either so i don’t see how you would get people to like it.
I absolutely loved this game back in the day! Glad to hear it’s finally back!
As for changes I’d recommend generally updating the map a tiny bit (as its been a few years) and as for changes to avoid copyright claims, I believe you may not want to use copyrighted names like pikachu, which I don’t really have an idea of what to replace it with.
(Oh, and also I’d recommend adding a system to give players their badges back, too. even though there was like 4 badges lol)
The developer will always have a chance to create a game that appeals to 10-year-olds. Even if the interests in today’s kids shift, the same may or may not hold true for children a couple of years from now. It’s a matter of catering to an age group rather than a generation.
Perhaps Pikachu should be replaced by a giant rabbit, as they also have long ears.
