So I’ve never used an Apple Pen before, so I started goofing around with it and made an avatar that I’ve always wanted to make. Any feedback or tips? Thank you!
Color first before drawing edges so it doesn’t look like you are coloring over the line work.
Thank you! I’ll use your feedback toward some of my next art pieces. Thanks!
As an artist, here are some tips:
- AVOID super thin lines, they arent helpful at all and they will actually make your job harder. Try to make the lines a bit more thicker or thinner than the size you used for the face
- Make the text a bit more balanced (the R in the shirt)
- Add shading depending to the lighting
- Make a more llamative background
Also, it’s me, or the background and drawing its not centered?
Anyways, hope my tips help you ![]()
Looks good! There are just a few things you can improve on and add in your next drawing!
Shading
Shading is important to a drawing to differ times and such. Unless your drawing is always happening during the high noon, everything isn’t going to look exactly the same. If you’re unfamiliar or even hesitant in beginning shading, try imagining the sun. Where is the sun located? Is it top left, top right, where? If the sun is in the top left, then the left side of your drawing would be more bright. Under hats would have shadows, because the light isn’t reaching that spot.
Eyes
The eyes are just circles. Seeing as you’re drawing a Roblox avatar, in this case, try drawing a face you might want to get. It could be a limited face, and expensive one, whatever. And it doesn’t have to be a Roblox face. Just circles look sorta bland.
Shirt
The shirt looks kind of bland. It’s sort of just an R and nothing else. You can diversify your drawing by drawing a hoodie or drawing stretch lines. For example, if you look at your clothes, they aren’t just straight. They’ve got lines all over them, depending on your posture, your weight, your pose, etc. Near the arm, there can be lots of lines that show that he’s moving his arm. I get this is a Roblox character, but a little bit of realism isn’t bad.
That’s all I’ve got! Great job, and I look forward to see some other pieces that you create!
sheeesh better than what I could ever do
I realllly appreciate all your feedback! Thank you all!
The drawing itself is alright, but the colors are too bright, making it overwhelming to the eye.
Next time think about what you want the veiwer to look at first —which in this case I’d guess you want them to see the person. Color in the person with bright colors, but leave the backround with less bright colors. You can also do it the other way around. ![]()
Looks cool make one for me if you want

I’ll gladly make the first one since I’m not good with hair ![]()
here are just some things i noticed (from an artists’s pov)
- the lineart is shaking and thin. try using a thicker or fuller brush
- the hair is coming out of the hat. while that does happen to roblox avatars, you should just change the hair to where it doesn’t stick out of the hat
- the face looks like it is turned but the hair&hat are facing towards the front
- the ‘R’ doesn’t look like the Roblox logo (if that’s what you were trying to go for)
- the yellow and orange in the background doesn’t go well with the avatar’s colors. since the hair is yellow, use a complementary color that goes with yellow or just a muted, darker shade
- the shading. the shading is very minimal and only is added to some parts of the character. if you’re going to shade, shade in every place there should be shading. and make sure to find some sort of light source or else the shading will look funky and all over the place
