Im currently trying to make a lot of npcs in my game, like 350 npcs. so making accessories, shirts, pants from scratch would be quite difficult, so i turned to using the toolbox for accessories and clothing that is already made.
but then a big issue arises, to what extent can i use these items? because on one hand these are approved models by roblox and are free to use. but what if they’re not original and instead stolen?
take for example a toolbox model that i have added which has (no joke) 7711 hats, and there is simply no way all of these hats are free to use, and ironically, theres two of these models in the toolbox so even this pack is “duplicated”. (if your curious heres the link) even the creator has the description as “from the catalog”.
so the ultimate question, can i use these types of packs with the justification that its from the toolbox and is approved by roblox’s moderation, OR do i need to make ones from scratch?
and if i cant use this model in specific, what about any other model? what would be the criteria to determine whether a toolbox model is usable or not.
not sure if your joking, but im pretty sure that wont work if your serious, because the assets still have their assetId’s which connects to the original creator and also dosent really change the fact that its taken without permission if its not a free to use asset.
i am only worried that if the game becomes popular that the original creators will want me to remove the items that they created which is understandable but is a burden on me.
That is true, in your defense it was a public toolbox model and you had no way of knowing. What I recommend is finding assets only made by roblox and use those hats. It is a low chance either way that if you did have a hat on an npc by a specific creator, they’d probably never know anyway. What I do for npcs is I insert a ton of roblox hats using a plugin and I use those.
i see, i think i will use these hats because they are approved by roblox moderation and if any original creator asks for me to take it down, i will replace it with a new hat that i will create. i think thats the best way to do it.
and if you dont mind me asking, what is the plugin that gives you roblox created accessories, or do you mean the plugin makes you equip them but you still have to search for them?
I search for the accessories manually, and then I use the plugin like Catalog inserter to instert them. I sort by Roblox creator in the website markerplace to find assets.
