Top Songs Available On Your Experience Detail Page

Hello creators,

We’re happy to announce that we’ve fully launched the Music Top 100 Charts:musical_note: in the Roblox app and are rolling out a “Top Songs” section in the Experience Detail Page over the next few weeks! This will showcase the top played songs in your experience so your users can see which songs and artists have been trending.

What’s New

Users can now link from an experience detail page directly to the music player to:

  1. Listen to their favorites
  2. See a list of other top experiences featuring the same song
  3. See other songs by the same artist

Let’s take a look👀!

Use Case

If you scroll down on the Experience Details Page, in this case we are using SpongeBob Tower Defense, you will find a new “Top Songs in [Experience name]” section.

Top Songs in [SpongeBob Tower] on Roblox App

Tapping on any of the tracks, such as “Jumpstyle” shown in the screenshot above, will take you to the music player where you can listen, favorite, and find other songs by the same artist.

Why

Our mission is to provide more opportunities to help creators and music artists showcase their work, foster engagement, and gain valuable insights. This feature only includes licensed tracks available on the platform that have an international standard recording code (ISRC) attached to them, and these are ranked based on playtime in the last 7 days. To date, we’ve expanded our licensed tracks catalog by partnering with DistroKid, APM, Clippsly, BSlick and we are working on even more expansion!

We think that users, creators, and artists all benefit from increased visibility of music throughout the platform. Creators can find music to add to their experiences. Artists receive more visibility for their work which allows them to grow their fanbase. Users can easily track down that catchy tune! We’ll continue to invest in enhancing that process for all.

What do you want to see next

Music is a key part of making your experiences and we’re looking for new ways to celebrate artists, promote our charts and make more music available across Roblox. We’re eager to hear how you’re using the charts and what features you want added. Leave your thoughts below! :speech_balloon:

Happy creating,
The Roblox Music Team :computer_disk:

Probably not since it looks like a preview. I dunno

This is great! I used to wonder what kind of Music Badimo’s Jailbreak game was using while i was robbing some stores in-game a few years back and now the Music Grow A Garden has been utilizing.

Wow I can I wait for a music player in Roblox :roblox:

We are exploring some UX design options, as well as running some POCs to see how a music player on the App would feel like outside of Song Detail Page. Stay Tuned!!!

Thanks! Glad to hear that it’s being worked on : - )

Ah yes, it’s that thing where the beta test thingy for it broke and spew languages everywhere

Now hopefully that’s not happening anymore

Are there any plans to support OST from Roblox games and/or a process to get songs validated through Roblox to appear here?

Having original music missing here and the “Now Playing” feature feels off.

Regarding the music provided by Distrokid, it would be nice if it was mentioned whether the music was created with AI or not. (Moreover, the quality of the music really leaves something to be desired…)

I’m sure several others, including myself, are absolutely enthralled about this finally being added! I just love to listen to the AI generated tracks trending on my favorite experience platform Roblox!

In what way does this help developers? Being able to see which APM catalog song is trending in my experience seems ultimately pointless. Am I missing something?

Instead of this, could we have a filter AI Music option? there’s no need for this, creators should be able to filter out AI ‘music’ when looking for Music on the marketplace

i’m actually totally down for this in concept, it would independent music creators to actually get visible credit for their stuff outside of the game (since spotify links are 50/50 blocked in descriptions) easily, but unfortunately it only supports full blown licensed music, which is going to limit it’s use by a lot.

heavily recommending allowing people to add custom music / game osts for their games.

So how prevalent is AI music across roblox then?

What if our game doesn’t use any public music tracks? Is the section still going to appear?

Also, can we as developers please get a way to disable the “Music” window in the experience controls?

Cool update! Will there be a dedicated endpoint to view these on the experience details page? example; music.roblox.com/universeId/songId/recommendations , or will this get batched into a games.roblox.com web call?

I honestly don’t know how to feel about this.

My questions are mainly:

  1. Will unverified audios be supported? (I’m annoyed seeing the music tab in game saying “Playing Unverified audio” because half the games use custom audios…)
  2. Will this exist on desktop?
  3. If it existed on desktop, how would we be able to listen to it?
