I tried making a retro game, can anyone give me ideas

The game looks really interesting so far but one issue I had with it were the long pauses between events, like when you are in the car going seemingly nowhere it makes you question if that’s the whole game, just a long car ride, and after you get out and are presented with a house that looks like every other house it’s confusing because it looks like it’s not interactable and that confusion increases when the door opens after waiting a while and randomly walking around. I’d say to improve the experience add some dialogue between events to maybe lead the player in the way you want to lead them, besides that very interesting game!
