Trusted Connection sync issue caused retroactive flag and duplicated appeal

A message sent while Trusted Connections was active was later reprocessed after a sync issue and incorrectly flagged by moderation. I also encountered a separate issue where my appeal was duplicated without my action.

Trusted Friends/Connections Issue

The message was sent while Trusted Friends/Connections was active. The sync issue occurred afterward, and the status later restored itself.

During the March 4-5 sync issue, my Trusted Connections status temporarily dropped and then restored itself a few days later.

After this, moderation flagged a message from Feb 22, which was sent while the Trusted Connection was active (verified via live QR scan).

It appears the message was reprocessed after the sync issue without correctly recognizing the Trusted status at the time it was sent.

Other users have also reported Trusted Connections randomly dropping around the same time:

Appeals Page Issue

  • I submitted one appeal on March 5
  • A second appeal entry appeared around March 21 without any action from me
  • Both were closed on April 2nd by the automated system

The system normally prevents submitting another appeal until the first one has been answered, and I had not received a response at the time the duplicate entry appeared. The duplicate also showed the same submission date as the original, which seems incorrect.

Expected behavior

“Trusted” status should apply correctly to messages while it is active, even after sync issues. Appeals should not duplicate or be counted more than once without user action.

I wish Roblox were more clear about what is flagged and why you lose access to things like this. No one should have to ping APIs to retrieve table information just to infer what could possibly be wrong.

I depend on Trusted Friends status to work with those who know and trust me, but if the only system that allows me to keep communication between those whom I work with fails, there is no other alternative.

So yeah, I’d really label this something urgent, especially considering the fact you may lose access to Team Create sessions with these people. I know I’m not the only one who depends on the Trusted system, so they really need to get on fixing this.

It’s actually crazy that this issue is still happening even after a staff member themselves have explicitly told me this is not expected behavior. I hate to have to reveal a private message, but genuinely this is just getting annoying now.

I completely agree! it’s frustrating that the “Trusted Connection” isn’t really persistent, especially when it starts affecting tools like Team Create.

what makes this even more confusing is that the other user in the “Trusted Connection” wasn’t flagged or banned at all, only my account was. if there was an actual violation, the system should have flagged both sides. plus, a few days after my ban, the “Trusted” badge reappeared on his end. the fact that the badge restored itself, while only my account got banned really just proves this is a sync error and the both of us did not remove the connection.

if the system actually thought the interaction was “bad”, i’d assume that they wouldn’t still label us as trusted. also, combined with the empty badUtterances: [] is clear that the moderation is stuck and hasn’t realized that the trusted system has already corrected..??

Probably. This is honestly all way in over my head, so hopefully either of our reports garner some sort of attention and they actually look into the issue.

I’m honestly just looking for some answers here regarding Trusted Friends/Connections. The whole point of scanning someone’s live QR code is to get reduced filtering because you’ve verified you’re IRL friends, right?

I used the feature exactly how it was intended, but then the system glitched on March 4th and my account was hit the very next day.

My question is: Does the “Trusted” status actually mean anything at the time you send a message, or does a system sync error just allow a bot to retroactively rescan your private DMs with standard filters? If a sync failure can trigger a ban for a message that was already “cleared” by the system, it kind of defeats the entire purpose of the feature. Can someone actually look at how this status downgrade affected my moderation? I’m really confused.
