Trusted Friends are randomly removed after being added

There appears to be a bug with the Trusted Friends feature where users who have been added to another user’s Trusted Friends list are randomly removed after several days.

This does not appear to be an isolated account issue. I have experienced this with multiple people, and other users have also reported experiencing the same behavior.

Steps to reproduce

1. Add another user to your Trusted Friends.
2. Confirm that the user appears in the Trusted Friends list/category
3. Leave the Trusted Friend relationship unchanged for several days.
4. Return to the Trusted Friends list later, within weeks/days
5. The previously added user may no longer be listed as a Trusted Friend, despite neither user manually removing the other.

The exact amount of time before the user is removed appears to vary, and I have not been able to identify a specific action that consistently triggers the removal.

Operating Systems: Windows 11 Home 64-bit and Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnamon 64-bit

This was tested on both operating systems and browsers.

Expected behavior

A user who has been added to the Trusted Friends list should remain there indefinitely unless the user is manually removed, the relationship is otherwise invalidated by Roblox, or another clearly documented action causes the Trusted Friend status to change.

The Trusted Friend should not disappear from the category title randomly after several days without any action from either user.

this also happened to me but 8 times, it randomly steals trusted friends and waiting for a few days to get them back, then randomly steals it again and the cycle repeats

Duplicate bug report but here is what staff had to say about it:

Randomly lost access to Trusted Connection status.

If you lose all your trusted friends, there may be an issue with your account. You can complete an ID verification to see if it fix the issue.

That post is unrelated to my issue. Most of my trusted friends completed an age check or did an ID verification, and the issue still happens.

Also, their response is vague and shows Roblox’s incompetence in fixing genuine bugs.

their trusted got stolen most likely since i also seen my trusted friends list missing some trusteds right before my trusteds got stolen

This was the same case for me, and in the same thread I prefaced that my issue was seemingly random and losing trusted status happened without proper trigger and seemingly no explanation. From what I have read in your original post, it’s just how I described my issue but in a slightly different framing. I made use of this system as soon as it dropped, and when QR was the only option, but in principle the problem is the same. Losing trusted connections without a proper reason, hence duplicate bug report.

I’m sorry, but I don’t think this is correct because I am ID verified. Also, this makes no sense because if the age isn’t appropriate, why does Roblox even initially allow the Trusted Friend to take place? Also, if this is a valid problem that happens, Roblox should state that when using Trusted Friends. Also, I’d like to preface that this issue happens to some friends and not all of them at once, which doesn’t align with the behavior you stated.

I’d say the two issues are the exact same, but I digress.

From what I can tell, at least for now, is that this issue doesn’t seem to be a priority for roblox to fix. We got a response, but nothing productive and it definitely felt like a reply was given just to give one without much thought past that.

I do believe trusted friends definitely broke something badly. I had one of my friends trusted friend’s status removed multiple times months ago and the chat got completely unusuable

And somehow made other chats completely broken so i believe there might be an even bigger issue than shown on the surface

Party Chat stopped working for most friends including trusted connections

I am on Chrome 146 on Windows 11 and occours without any extensions Party Chat seemingly stopped working on my @Soundmoji account on all devices which includes trusted connections and people in similiar age groups. As of now i am unable to re-add them as a trusted friend again. It’s not an issue with age groups either, since inviting the person to a group makes chatting fine

The team recently fixed a bug that may have caused trusted friends to be lost. Our records show that your trusted friends have been stable for at least a week - which is promising. Let us know if you experience any further issues.
