As a UI designer on Roblox, it’s very difficult to create modern designs when most trends in UI design nowadays follow transparent/translucent elements with blurred overlays.
I am specifically talking about blurring parts of the screen (whether it be the game, or another UI element behind it), to build UI on top of for a cool effect while maintaining a good level of readability.
It would additionally be helpful if the capability included different types of blur, such as frosted or clear — as doing this ourselves with ImageLabels wouldn’t be the best quality due to differing resolutions (as far as I’m aware). (Progressive blur would be great too, whether it be through UIGradient or built-in to the feature itself)
I have attached some images below of where I feel this capability could be beneficial, and already is in the interfaces you use everyday.
While I don’t expect to be able to recreate the level of UI that Apple has across their operating systems with the iOS 26 versions of their products — ‘Liquid Glass’ — there is some promising work over at 🛠️Liquid Glass - UI Blur Is A Thing Of The Past🛠️
I am aware of and currently using workarounds with neon/glass parts, but they’re less than ideal due to accuracy issues and other in-game reflections.
If implemented correctly, this capability could also bring 3D shadows to UI elements — as seen in modern design — rather than relying on images. An example:
I would also like to mention that there are already many other forum posts requesting this feature, which shows how much it would mean to developers — yet it hasn’t appeared on the roadmap despite years of requests.
