Undeprecate Deeplinks

For our game, we currently use deep links to allow our private server communities to create links for their community members to immediately jump into the action in their private server. We use the Reserved Servers API so it is not a traditional private server. Currently, on our domain, we allow server owners to use example.domain/join/ServerCodeHere and it would add their server code to the custom launch data which would in turn direct them to
https://www.roblox.com/games/start?launchData=%7B%5C%22psCode%5C%22%3A%5C%22ServerCodeHere%5C%22%7D&placeId=2534724415.

With the current Share Links that has been referenced in the now deperecated deep links API, it does not give us the ability to accomplish the same task. Currently, everything still works, but we fear with deep links being deprecated that the feature could ultimately be sunsetted. We highly request to either keep deep links, or add support on share links to attach custom launch data such as adding a custom data query parameter (ex: https://www.roblox.com/join/iwi8z?launchData=%7B%5C%22psCode%5C%22%3A%5C%22ServerCodeHere%5C%22%7D) that already exists for deeplinks.

Deep linking has significantly expanded the reach of private/reserve servers in Emergency Response: Liberty County, drastically reducing the friction for members to join community servers. It would be a shame to see deep linking reach end-of-life. It would be a significant step back not only for the ERLC community, but for many other games that rely on it.

Deep links are definitely not something worth deprecating. They really do provide many games such as ER:LC with a better optimized and easier way for users to navigate directly into these reserved servers. Without these deep links, there will be more hurdles for users to get into these reserved servers. Additionally, I’ll just be saying this straight here: Roblox, just don’t.

Deep Links is a great way have users join someone or a certain place in a game and it makes it super simple! Please bring it back!

+1 to this. Deep links with custom launch data are critical for how many private server communities operate. Without a replacement in share links, a lot of current systems would break. Support for passing launch data in share links would solve this cleanly.

I dont agree with this post, I think they should be deprecared because of several reasons.

Strongly agree with this.

Deep links are an incredibly useful tool for roleplay communities to direct players into reserved servers.
If deep links are going to be deprecated, there needs to be an equivalent (or better) solution that supports custom launch data.

I’d appreciate it if you could name one reason. Any one reason, your favorite, least favorite, or any random one of them. However, I’d like to see you name at least one or more.

I don’t see any reason why this deprecation is a good thing, you can have your opinion but you should also be able to defend it.

deeplinking is the only good way to make server links for custom private servers.
their removal would be detrimental.

Deeplinks could probably also provide real-time authentication for secure authentication into secure servers, too.

(eg, adding a timestamp into the link, a secret code, etc)

Share links are rubbish in the sense they don’t have any launchdata. Besides; Share links are capped at 3 whereas Deeplinks can go for basically infinity.

So, Undeprecate them!!!

Depreciating developer tools such as these critically impacts game operations for developers using them.

Roblox needs to think more about depreciating developer resources, especially when they impact communities that provide growth to the platform as a whole.

for a post made 22 hours ago, the amount of likes is suspicious…

Because this impacts a huge community, with a group of over 2.1M members. The largest player-base of these RP games are the private-server communities that rely on the deep link API service. So, of course, there will be a lot of people interacting with this post, as this is a feature that impacts the community as a whole.

As cenosity said, most of the people who liked the message are from the ER:LC community as this really will affect gameplay for private servers so that’s why it’s getting so high

This feature is used in all kinds of way in roblox games. It is very useful to be able to input join data into a player joining, and this feature need to have support continued unless a reasonable alternative is made.

+1 on this from me as well.

Deep Links allow access to reserved servers extremely fast, and enhance the experience of users that are really connected with a community, such as ER:LC. That aside, it provides a fast way to join a reserved server for moderation purposes, or when a user needs to quickly configure something, and doesn’t want to be riddled with the usual access process.

yeah this is really really weird, it seems like either the erlc devs are either using bots which is probably unlikely or they sent a link to this thread in one of their communication which is paramount to brigading and also manipulation which isn’t great either
the majority of the likers also dont have public profiles on so they arent even devforum members

idk where you see "manipulation " in this lol, they are not manipulating anyone by sharing a link to this tread, if it impacts the game the players should know.

it is manipulation if they get their community to raid a dev forum

The devforum doesn’t assign a public profile to a user until they’ve actually posted, this isn’t really proof of anything other than that those users have not posted anything.
