To my understanding, recently there’s been a lot of mixed opinions about new Pilot Programs for certain UGC Categories.
I believe that Pilot Programs are necessary for testing features before being publicly released, to gather information from the community and creators that are usually working with these things.
However I think there could be a few changes done to make more of the Roblox community feel more like it’s fair.
First suggestion would be, allowing people in the Community Feedback Program to participate in Pilot Programs & get accepted automatically upon applying. This would allow people who Roblox already trusts to participate if they’re interested. This would give more than 50+ people access into the program, making it much more fair and more competitive.
Another Suggestion would be creating a Unified UGC Pilot Program, similar to the Previous UGC Program. This would allow people to join the Program based on applications & of course accepting people who were in the Original UGC Program as well.
This New Pilot Program would allow applicants to participate in every Pilot Program, however it would not be closed to a specific group of people, but anybody who meets the eligibility can apply. Having one Unified program, means staff don’t need to check the applications of the same people over and over, and once a new Pilot is open, these creators would be able to get the information related to the next pilot.
Having a unified pilot system, would also allow staff members to go through apps more easily, no duplicate apps, and applications could also be accepted while there is no current Pilot Program going on.
In my opinion this Unified UGC Pilot Program for all upcoming categories, should also be a way for UGC Creators to express concerns of certain category ideas, price costs, etc. before they become final.
Question: But Won’t people in the program still have advantage over other people?
Solution: I think it would be for the best that pilot program participants, get uploading tutorials, configuration access and publish access sooner than others, however the items they publish would not be available to purchase until the public release of the category. This ensures that there’s no “unfair advanatage” of people getting more sales, however still gives a small headstart to those who participated in the program, since their items would already show up.
I would like to hear more opinions on what other people think about this.
Since this is a controversial topic to many, I would suggest anybody that sees this post, to just keep things civilized. If you don’t agree with some opinions, make sure to point it out, but it would be highly appreciated to keep it civil rather than going on a rampage how something is bad, or unfair, or whatever.
I think a thread like this would help the Roblox staff members understand more of what the community feels, and also helps the community express their ideas and explain why they think something would work or wouldn’t work.
Let me know what you think!
