Unknown Error When Archiving Meshparts

I’m trying to archive some assets of mine I don’t want anymore, but whenever I go into Studio and retrieve the date of creation, which I usually do, and then go to the Mesh Parts tab and look for them, I click Archive on that asset, and I get an “Unknown error. Please try again later.” I don’t know why this is happening because other assets, right next to it, I tried and they work just fine. Is it because I’m in the studio? Does that affect some sort? I’m not really sure, because I tested it out of the studio and it still doesn’t work. I need to archive these assets as they have been stolen by other creators, and I need to protect their privacy. Thanks.

Expected behavior

I expect to be able to archive each asset normally.

Hi @bradst3r_2010, could you provide in a private message the asset ID of the mesh part that can’t be archived? Thanks!

Where do you want me to send you them? I have multiple asset id’s id like to archive.

The asset IDs are 17083153147, 18291515258, 18291608378, 17083159824, 16368575919, 17117239119, 15968940254, and 15968972080. If you can fix these or archive them for me, I would appreciate it.

Hi bradley,

Taking a look those Ids, some of them’s children asset(e.g., mesh and image) might be used by avatar items, which we will need more time to figure out the list.

So one thing to clarify: do you want to archive those MeshPart only or you want to archive any dependencies/children assets under those MeshPart?

I dont believe they have any images attached, but the ones i sent are rendermeshes, but i’m just hoping to archive all instances of that mesh so yes anything under those ids with that mesh should get archived. They aren’t avatar items, they are just meshes i have created. Thanks.

Hi,
Ok if you need also archive those mesh, i need some time to do some query to make sure it does not break our business rules(e.g., they all owned by your account, they are not used by any wearable items/avatar, etc…)

But i will keep you posted. I also saw your another thread Unknown Error, cannot archive assets.. Yes i can also check whether anyone is used your asset from our log too.

On our UI, there is indeed a bug for this error message, as i said, most of time this unknown error was due to one of the dependencies become dependencies of avatar items, which we should surface a clearer message.

I appreciate it so much! You can take however much time you need to get everything figured out. My other post has a couple of extra ID’s from this one as well that I’d like to get removed, and it would really be helpful if there happen to be any other users with my assets or that may have reuploaded my meshes, that hopefully those can also get removed as well. Thanks for helping, and hopefully the unknown error can be resolved.

Hey, it’s been a couple of days. I just wanted to know if there was any update on the archiving situation. Thanks!

Hi sorry i still need more time, as archival all dependencies is never easy, we need to well identify whether they are used by any wearable items and also any popular experience.

Thank you for your patient.

Ok sounds good! just let me know when you have found the information about all the assets and can archive them.

Hi @bradst3r_2010 ! Sorry for the wait and thank you for your patience! We had to manually check that your assets are archivable. We were able to verify and archive your listed asset ids. Please let us know if you require any more assistance or there are any issues with the archival!

Also, I highly recommend opting in to our asset-privacy system in the future as it can help avoid these situations!

Thank you so much for your help!

Hey, I believe some of the assets were not removed. My seats were, but I don’t see much of others removed. I don’t see them on my meshparts tab anymore so they are likely archived, but their rendermesh is still like visible ingame. Could you look into these rendermesh ID’s and try and see if those could be removed on all dependencies?

That is all the rendermesh ids i have that I would like to get removed, some are under my group Town of Rolesville i believe, and some are under me. If you could just try and get these main meshparts and all their dependencies archived I would be so thankful! Sorry for any issues.

Hi Bradley! Can you check the meshes for the original 8 mesh parts you listed again? I believe they should be fixed now. Also, with this new list of meshes, please provide the appropriate mesh part asset ids instead of the render mesh asset ids, as we do not support direct archival of meshes.

Ok I will check them and i’ll get back with you soon with all the meshpart IDs.

Thank you. I will take a look at these, but this is a pretty large list of assets to archive. Just to make sure, you get errors when trying to archive all of these mesh parts on creator hub? Manually archiving can take a while and shouldn’t be the de facto process. Please let me know again if archiving on your end works or not and I will continue from there!

I have tested all of these ID’s as I got them; they were giving me the Unknown Error, so I was unable to archive them myself. Thanks!
