Unknown Vulnerability Causing Out-of-Memory Crashes

Hello,

I’m reaching out regarding a recurring issue in my experience where servers appear to be experiencing abnormal crashes that we believe may be caused by exploiters spamming, abusing, or otherwise tampering with client-initiated API calls.

We have already implemented safeguards around our RemoteFunctions and RemoteEvents to prevent excessive or malformed requests from being spammed, but the crashes are still occurring intermittently.

I’ve been reviewing the crash and memory logs available to me, but the issue has been difficult to investigate consistently because some of the affected crashes do not appear in the logs or diagnostics accessible from the developer side.

If possible, I’d greatly appreciate any assistance from the engineering team in investigating these incidents and identifying patterns across the affected server instances, including any users, client behavior, engine-level errors, or unusual activity occurring shortly before the crashes.

I’ve attached several crash dumps privately to this post for engineers to review. If there is any additional information I can provide, such as timestamps, server IDs, place IDs, I’d be happy to provide them.

Thank you for any assistance in identifying the culprit or underlying cause of these crashes.

I’m actually having the same issue. Something I was about to diagnose was that the servers are not actually completely crashing. Users are disconnecting, but often times there are singular outlier users who keep the server alive long enough so users can reconnect to the same server. Because of this, the server technically never crashed. That’s why it’s so inconsistent ;-;

Hello, I am having the same issue however I have included some data that could help its this post Our servers keep getting crashed: server memory climbs ~200 MB/s for 20 seconds and most players get error 277

I’d like to say that we’re also being subjected to a similar attack. An unknown person wrote to us, demanding Robux to stop these server crashes. He confirmed that the problem is specifically on Roblox’s side, and it’s not a problem with the game. Please help us with this; I hope you won’t forget.

Are there any updates? I’ve run into another major attack. 29 server crashes in less than an hour.

This issue appears to be spreading across thousands of experiences and is now potentially affecting hundreds of thousands of users across the platform. It is causing significant revenue losses, player retention issues, and disruption for developers.

I strongly recommend prioritizing the security and stability of the network infrastructure surrounding game servers before the issue becomes more widespread and difficult to contain.
