Currently I use group places to work on projects out of the public eye until they’re ready to be released since if group places are disabled on the group page the places are pretty much unlisted and the only way to access them is if you’re provided a direct link to them. I just had the misfortune of finding out the hard way though that people can find these places in Friend Activity and can follow the people I’ve linked to the place in-game.
Places should be able to be marked “unlisted” on their configuration page so that they don’t show up in Friend Activity and people can’t follow them in-game, or some better way to easily control entry to a place (e.g. personal server whitelist/blacklist on all places – why isn’t this a thing yet) so I can work on unreleased projects in peace and quiet without having to worry about people snooping. I’m aware I can make the place group members only, but it’s a pain to have to turn it to public every time I want people to be able to join. I can’t accept them into the group because some of them don’t have enough group space and some people I don’t want to have permanent access to the place.
