Hey forum, I bring to you another post about the game I am currently working on, a round based game where players build and furnish a room based on a given theme, then vote to see who created best. My goal with these posts is to document my first official release (hopefully) and get feedback as I go.
First off if you Havent seen the previous post, here it is.
It’s been a while, but much has changed since the first post. So many, and I mean SO many mechanics have been added to the game, and it’s starting to feel like what I had planned. This is a great sign as I genuinely have fun playing the game even when I’m in studio testing. Some things I’ve added include trading, a settings menu, NPCs and dialogue for them, tons of new builds, and some other stuff I won’t go over here.
But the biggest addition, Free build! A separate place where players are given a plot to build with their furniture without the pressure of time, votes, or a given theme. Players can save their plot and load it in whenever needed. Here’s some media of that
The hope is that free build lets the game appeal to more players and in tune help its success.
It isn’t all good though, something I’ve discussed with my testers is the feel of the building system. There are some things about it that really don’t help the quality of life. To be honest, the building system was the first thing I created, so the code is still in “prototype” mode. Although it works well, it sometimes can feel frustrating when you’re building in a time crunch, and is difficult for me to change with ease. I will most likely be completing a complete recode of the build system, so hopefully that does not take up too much time.
That’s all I’ve got, if you’re interested in my project theres a group to join here as well as social links embedded to the group, joining will help the community (and my motivation) grow
Please leave development tips, suggestions, furniture ideas, and anything else you can think of in the replies. I leave you with extra media
