Unnamed Building Game | Devlog 2

Hey forum, here is the third devlog post for my game about furnishing rooms. As always I explain the game loop first, players furnish rooms based on a chosen theme in a round based game using furniture items they own. After a time limit of a few minutes, players will vote on which room was created best keeping the theme in mind. If you’d like to test the game in the next run, it will be open, info at the bottom of the post :). With that out of the way, lets get on.

If you haven’t seen me before, my last devlog can be found here:

With the game coming together and actually looking and feeling like a real game now, it’s time for polish, touch ups, and miscellaneous features. So that’s exactly what this devlog focuses on. First up came monetization. The game is mostly made for a younger audience in mind, so I didn’t want to fill up the game with too many products, and wanted the prices to be reasonable to that audience. Here’s the lineup of gamepasses I have as well as their prices, would love feedback on the icons and prices.

I think you can guess what some of these do, but for VIP and Executive, I’m not 100% sure on the benefits. Of course the things I have in my mind is star multipliers and chat tags, but I’m not too sure outside of that, would love to hear ideas. As for other monetization, there are packs in the game that I have shown in earlier devlogs about which contain bundles of furniture items, and the last product, an option to choose the next theme of the match from the lobby. Here is footage of that, as well as some other features (join mid game, afk mode and keybind swapping).

With the audience I am targeting being fairly young, mobile support will be a huge need to ensure players, so building is now (finally) working with mobile. I’m not sure if it feels great, and there is probably tons of bugs with this, but that’s what I’m hoping to find in the third testing run. Other than these features, I’ve been polishing up the game. Building has been heavily optimized as building with higher poly builds caused some frame drops, admin commands added for runtime customizability. and a ton of new builds.

Like I said earlier, the game feels like a real game, and release is near barring any huge bugs. That’s why this next testing run will be completely open to anyone. It will open in 3 days time, and I will be making another post about it when that time comes. You can join the community here: Wild Games_ - Roblox. Make sure to check out the server in the social links to get info about the test and just keep up in general. Last thing I promise, someone pointed out the game was similar to Dress to Impress, but with furniture. Originally the inspiration was Draw Me, but this made a lot of sense, and the name I have for the game is now Build to Impress, and that is what it will be called in future devlogs.
