I agree with that also. I have had a lot of clothing stolen (by well known groups at that!), and even a DMCA report has done nothing to get them removed. This copying and botting mess is so out of control at this point I don’t see there ever being a permanent fix. Designers have become the least of Roblox’s worries.
Going to reply to this post again. Instead of slapping a fee on a website with mostly underage users and discouraging them from expressing creativity on this website, make clothing templates private. It’s a difficult thing to do? Well, better get developing then. ROBLOX is a multi-billionaire corporation so I dont think it’s impossible to make clothing templates private. Roblox is where it is right now because of all of the players, and yet, Roblox is currently treating the clothing designers on their platform like trash. This isn’t acceptable.
Removing templates won’t make Roblox more money. Roblox = greed. Simple.
True but false at the same time, Roblox actually started clearing duplicated clothing off the catalog just last night. http://twitter.com/Bloxy_News/status/1353538354504101888
oh yeah of course i know about stealing and i dont support it, its just roblox are doing a good job cleaning up the catalog rn apparently
sorry for bad grammar, typing wierd lol
The only problem with this is that Roblox may be cleaning up the catalog, but that’s not going to stop them. The persons doing the copying have not yet been dealt with properly. They can still steal clothing, and make plenty of sales from the items they take even if the are not on the front pages of the catalog.
Perhaps not, but I find it a bit hard to believe that they’d choose this solution amongst others (I’ve seen a few options listed in this thread somewhere) without even being aware of what they’re doing/the benefit of doing so on their end.
As you mentioned, it very well might be a lack of communication, leading to confusion amongst other uncertainty. Maybe an explanation as to why they chose this route over others as an attempted “upload abuse” solution might be beneficial to Roblox to help earn the community’s backing on this decision. Thanks for the reply though! It’s interesting to hear other people’s pov!
Are you serious? How insensitive and ignorant can people get?
How are we supposed to do this if we can’t afford to upload?
Let me ask: Are you a clothing designer?
If your answer is no: Stop trying to represent a community you’re not apart of.
Refer to one of my previous replies on this topic:
Uh yeah. And I understand it’s hard to get sales!
Premium! Don’t cancel your Premium because of this update. Premium gives you Robux, and Robux can be used to upload clothing!
So you understand its hard to get sales.
Which means its hard to turn profit. Which means its hard to make back the fee of which you pay.
If you work hard to become a bigger designer, yes you might lose some money short term because of the fee, ads, ect, but in the long run you can profit! I said that!
They cant become bigger designers because of how cluttered the catalog is. Its near impossible.
Roblox are cleaning up the catalog. Besides, other people have became big designers whilst the catalog has been messy. What’s your point?
I used to be a clothing designer. I had to work for funds in order to get purchases because sometimes that’s what you have to do. I am now a developer. Developers also have fees. They’ve BEEN having fees. We also have to spend THOUSANDS on ads just so our game can possible be successful. Not to mention we have other developers to pay. I understand this new fee may be a lot, and I understand that it’s that it will be harder now, but not everything comes easy. The point is, you are not the only one who is being charged, and there are other people who have it worse. I spend thousands weekly without a steady income. It’s difficult.
And those other people have resources not everyone has. Not everyone can afford the fee when it stacks up. Not everyone can afford advertisments.
True, this is what the point of the fee was though. To remove clutter. Also, sometimes ads are needed in order to get a business up and running. I was a clothing designer way before the fee and the clutter was still a problem, so I had to work for funds.
I completely agree.
They have enough money to invest into projects like this, the least they can do is give it a bit more thought than this “solution” expresses towards the people that give them their money already.
I wish they would have asked for possible solutions, such as the one you offered here, before making this change without our opinions prior to such a big decision being made.
Clothing designers can do commissions. That way, they can earn money to spend on ads! In fact, I’m planning on using some money from UI commissions to fund my own game’s release!
If they want to remove the clutter they should remove the existing botted clothes.
yeah, for people struggling with payments its good to try to learn a bit of development so you can do side commissions for spare change.
