Update on Verified Badges

When did roblox send your Black Iron Crown of O’s, I’m still waiting on mine :frowning:

Would still love an update on group contributor verification. Last update on the topic was about 3 months ago, and all we know is that it’s “paused”.

The verification wave has just happened, congrats to everyone who got their badge!

In case anyone is wondering, yes, Roblox has skipped group owners once again. Maybe we’ll have better luck next month!

You’d think it wouldn’t take 3 months. A couple solutions, maybe check players studio hours if thats tracked, or if the user gets a percentage of the income from the games. My verification badge is long overdue as I’m the main programmer but don’t own any of the groups of the games i’ve worked for. Hope we hear something soon

This is the second group I’ve had verified, but my account still hasn’t received the badge. Could we get a revaluation of the eligibility of group owners? Owners are vastly different from contributors and should be recognised accordingly.

That’s frustrating, I’ve finally met all the requirement ever since January of this year as a group owner. It’s odd to me that Roblox staff would specify that they will keep accepting group owners while pausing for group contributors, but then proceed to just group all contributors (including group owners) anyway? I wonder if it was miscommunicated from whoever handles the verification checker to the AMA staff.

well have i got the news for you…

I don’t think owners with games created without group got verified too

Accounts that directly owned eligible games were verified

ever since roblox started automating the verified badge, group owners always counted as group contributors, regardless of whether they actually own the group or not

otherwise, a lot more people would’ve been verified. i know that because one of our ex. devs got verified while i myself as the group owner did not, because i did not have the followers requirement met at the time.

That’s not true, otherwise Roblox wouldn’t differentiate between the two. I’ve also seen countless instances where group owners were verified (with follower counts under 10k), and contributors only received the badge once they reached 10k.

The reason you weren’t verified was probably due to not having 2FA or being ID verified. For the past few months, they have been skipping all group owners, regardless of if they have 10k followers.

I also don’t see any verified groups owned by either of your accounts, are you sure you’re not a contributor?

My studio has been verified back in August last year, the verified mark was removed after we changed the name from the temporary one (Project: AE) to the one we currently use. Roblox Support refuses to give the badge back unless I change the group name back to the temporary one, which I think you can do the 1+1 for why I wouldn’t want to do that, even if it means not getting the group verified again anymore.

I had 2FA and ID verification since 2023 when I got access back to my account, and had (still have) the requirement of 1M+ playtime for 90 days - The group being verified in the first place pretty much confirms that.

Besides, the issue is that I’m not the only one who had this happen - there are countless other developers who had the exact same issue.
Edit: OutlookG did get their verified badge, but I assume it’s for a different reason ngl

You seem to be in a unique case, as Roblox isn’t issuing your group a new badge even though you still meet the playtime requirements. I’m not sure how this affects the verification of you and your developers. Maybe they can’t grant any badges to you guys if the group itself isn’t verified, but I do know for a fact that contributors and owners are not judged on the same criteria.

In their verified FAQ, they highlight the differences between the two. In their most recent AMA, they also mention they will resume verifying group owners but not contributors. The whole reason so many people are waiting to be verified is because of group owners selling verification to users posing as contributors- which is why they stopped verifying them.

Now, if anyone wants to be verified, they would have to purchase the entire group/game instead of buying a checkmark and leaving.
