updateController tag is taking an uncontrollably long time

The updateController label pops up every now and then, and comes up more frequently when pressing any key in rapid succession. It renders most games completely unplayable with it essentially throttling rendering.

This happens with a plain baseplate and any game for that matter.

To the staff, I would very much so appreciate as much of a transparent answer as possible when it comes to how this issue was introduced, I have some speculations that I would be assured of that is not the reason.

Hi @Ukendio ,

We suspect that you might hit the same issue as described here: Roblox Client freezes when a peripheral (mouse/keyboard) is connected - #3 by Paragraph3232

Because of the way DirectInput works, device enumeration might stuck when USB device is disconnected/reconnected. Could you please check if you have a loose USB port somewhere with a device connected into it?

It does not look like I have the same issue no.

@Ukendio ,

There are currently no reasonable theories off the top of my head to why it could be happening aside from the DirectInput one.
Could you remember when did you start seeing that? Or was it always the issue for you?

Just in case, do you happen to have Steam open or something else that can affect game controller input?

April 1st was the first instance I can remember or noticed.

No I have neither steam open or a game controller plugged in to reproduce this.

I’m wondering if your device was randomly selected to be in a test channel, but if you can still see it even now, then it’s probably not the case. Could you tell us what you see in More -> About -> App Information?
