Every time I try to upload this image (a paint brush icon) to Roblox, the asset is blank when loaded in Studio, it’s website thumbnail is white, and loading the asset page brings up a “404 page not found” error. I have tried to upload it in 3 different places, and it keeps doing the same thing. I have tested uploading different images and do not get this problem. It only happens when I upload this specific image. I was wondering if it was getting auto-moderated, but I am not getting any warnings or anything.
This image has been in my game for a few years and started failing to load a few days ago, which was the reason why I was trying to upload it again.
Here are the three times I’ve tried to upload this image:

What you’re describing - a white thumbnail, a 404 on the asset page, and no moderation warning - that’s a well-known symptom of Roblox’s silent auto-moderation.
The asset gets removed within seconds of uploading, before it ever fully goes live, but without triggering any notification on your end.
This is happening sometimes (and actually more frequently since Roblox updated their moderation pipeline). Sometimes images that were perfectly fine years ago can suddenly get caught by a new filter, even if the content itself hasn’t changed at all.
Another possible cause is something in the file itself - metadata, an ICC color profile, or a specific alpha channel configuration - that trips a filter without the image content being the actual problem.
Here are a few things that I think worth trying:
- Re-export the image from scratch using any image editor (even Paint works). This strips out old metadata and gives the file a clean slate.
- Make a minor change - resize it slightly, adjust one pixel, or rename the file.
- Try converting the format (PNG → JPG or vice versa).
- If none of that works, I think at this point you shall contact Roblox Support directly and mention that you’re receiving no moderation warning but the asset consistently returns a 404. That’s a detail they’ll want to know.
In most cases, a clean re-export is enough to get past it.
Hope that helps!
