Hello,
I would like to report what appears to be a false enforcement caused by the moderation system.
My account was first flagged for Privacy: Giving PII due to my username. However, my username only contains a first name and numbers, and does not include any personally identifiable information such as a full name, address, or contact details. Because of this, I believe the PII detection was incorrect.
I submitted an appeal, but it was denied, and the appeal window later closed.
After that, my account was banned for being linked to another account that violated the rules. The issue is that I only own and use one account, and there are no other accounts connected to me. This makes the linked account enforcement appear to be a false positive.
This situation suggests that:
The automated system incorrectly flagged my username as PII
The enforcement escalated based on that action
A false linked account detection was triggered
I can provide screenshots showing:
The original PII violation
The linked account ban message
I wanted to report this as a bug and it seems to be caused by an error in the moderation system rather than an actual violation.
Thank you for your time.
Account linking enforcement should only occur when there is strong and verified evidence of multiple accounts owned by the same user.
Usernames that contain only a first name and numbers should not be flagged as PII.
they really need to clarify this whole “sharing personal information” rule in my opinion because in the last clause of section 4 of their privacy policy they say “if you’re 13 years old or over, you CAN share your personal information through chat forums messages or similar ways of sharing on our service”:
and in roblox’s community standards in the “sharing personal information” section under the security category it also says “to maintain privacy and safety users may be prohibited from sharing or requesting personal information on roblox DEPENDING ON THEIR AGE”:
since in the privacy policy they say if you’re 13 or above you can share pii we basically have to interpret the “depending” factor in the community standards as whether you are above or below 13 when it comes to sharing personal information
since everyone on the devforum is required to be 13+ that rule shouldn’t apply to ANYONE here unban my bro
Why does it say “Banne” at the top? I am also confused, so you are showing you have an account banned for “Sharing PII,” then another banned for “a serious violation of [the] Community Standards” on another account?
it annoys me so much how they continue to ignore this problem, getting help from the support team is actually hopeless. i’ve been terminated by an enforcement ban for almost a month and they refuse to share any info nor bother to look into it
you likely had your account linked from some stray connection to a public wifi or maybe used a vpn at one point which someone who has zero correlation to you, got terminated on the same connection
even if you interpret it that way, the community standards say that it’s “prohibited depending on your age,” which by itself literally means users above a certain age are already excluded from that rule..
however, there isn’t a clear number stated in the community standards, which is why I said they should clarify
but the sentence itself is overall pretty weird, because it also says that depending on your age, you can “request” personal information. so if you are old enough, you’re apparently allowed to request it (if only users in those age ranges may be prohibited from doing that, then users not in those age ranges are not prohibited )
also I thought support usually offers a free name change in this sort of case
did they stop doing that? that’s really stupid if so bc usually PII in usernames is just like a small child naming their account like littletimmygaming2015 or smth
im pretty sure that even if you have the most offensive username on planet earth and it gets reset, roblox just gives you a free username change (which you can change through settings and takes less than 10 seconds) as long as your account hasn’t been terminated
I got the same message recently, redirecting me to appeal it through “Violations & Appeals” for an enforcement ban, which does not show up under it. By the way, I told them that it does not exist under there, and it says they can not provide me with further information, along with checking the previous information.
To me, it is odd that they would be unable to assist you any further unless you submitted a form under a different category. Hoping everything works out for you!
Yeah, I am in the same boat with my account “sammikyu,” which I have less than a week left until my appeal window closes. It will feel endless unless a staff member manually reviews it. Some people were able to appeal successfully, so anything could happen.
The appeal window doesn’t matter one bit, you can still get your account back long after the window closes, especially if you’re appealing to the bot (which has unlimited appeals), just need to get really really lucky that is
