[urgent!?] Feedback needed for my combat game

For the past few months I’ve been dedicated to make a retro-inspired roblox combat game of my own. Similar to item asylum & others, this game uses a randomizer system, every respawn you get a new set of 2 weapons! You will always spawn with a sword (which makes 3 slots total).
I have tried to balance the current set of weapons to make it fun and fair for everyone, and to encourage the usage of mixing up the playstyle and not relying on the sword.

Every kill gives you tokens, and in return you can use tokens to buy weapon skins! There may be a future more important use for token, but I’m not sure yet. The subspace tripmine gamepass works, which adds a fourth slot to your weapons. Since I have not focused on that aspect of the game yet, I only added basic functionality and it needs to be balanced.

A bunch of the inner workings and systems such as the UI, music, and map switching are still very primitive, and feedback would be appreciated!! This game is still VERY buggy, but playable!

If no one is online? Bring a friend to test too, it’s hard to test solo and it’s best with 3 people minimum.

day 2, made some more changes to the game to hopefully balance stability :slight_smile:

day 3, didnt change much besides adding new weapon skins. people are reporting there are issues with it, so i tried to fix it

As soon as I joined the game, I noticed that the UI was getting cut off on my screen (I’m playing on a phone). Overall, the UI could use some improvement. I wasn’t able to test much since there were no other players online, but that was my first impression.

got bored decided to rate heres some bullet points

gameplay:

  • nobody else was with me so i can’t do a super in depth rating here, but the combat seemed ok
  • some weapons are outright just roblox gears though so maybe change them a little bit

animations:

  • the walking animation is super unnatural the arms should move at least a little
  • all the other animations are fine, the only complaint i have is that some of them are a little inconsistent (ie the roblox gears and the knife have a completely different feel to everything else)

UI:

  • overall ok, some spacing + scaling issues exist
  • i would recommend in the shop adding some kind of description for the items because right now i just see “italy” and have to come to conclusions about what it looks like
  • some of the weapons didn’t have the same cursor as everything else, which messes with consistency
  • i literally didn’t notice the options button for a solid 5 minutes because it was behind the healthbar pls fix

bugs:

  • trowel has infinite range
  • some UI scaling and positioning is a little off, doesn’t scale with screen size
  • when i first joined i had a set of items even though i didn’t spawn in yet
  • idk if this is intentional or not but on the SFOTH map i couldn’t walk up a set of stairs without jumping first for some reason
  • when i collect a coin on doomspire map it says +1 but then gives me 5 tokens

overall:

  • nobody else was there so i can’t really properly rate the combat but it seems ok to me
  • i would recommend trying to differentiate yourself more because right now what i see is “retro randomizer game with skins”
  • overall 6 or 7 out of 10 probably could play for a while with some friends but would get repetitive quickly. of course ik it like just came out so im sure you’ll add more as time goes

Played it for about a minute and I noticed something wrong

  • Free model running animation (tho I think you made the walk animation since it looks like it was), But I dont want to be here to judge
  • The game says “Q to Roll”, When I pressed Q it only did a sliding animation instead of rolling
  • Mobile incompatibility
  • Don’t think the controls work for Xbox or PS5 but sure
  • Parry’s forcefield could be changed a little

Thank you everyone for the current feedback! I appreciate it a lot as it tells me where I need to improve and work on the game some more. Here is my current list of things that need changing and I will be progressively working on them

  • The UI needs improvement and I will try to rework most of the mobile UI to be more bearable
  • Fix walking and running animation (yeah, i made the walking one myself :sob: not too good at animating)
  • Fix weapons to be more enjoyable, fix bugs with weapons
  • Fix wording with mechanics
  • Rework the skins menu to either add descriptions or proper sword images
    • They were usually decals from the toolbox because I don’t really know how to make sword decals look like the image below

I’ll end up removing this as this was a test for custom priced weapon skins

I will try to add more weapons and diverse out of roblox gears, although the inspiration is based around that. Also, when I am comfortable with reaching the Beta phase of this game, I’ll add more cosmetics like emotes too.

Can you please elaborate on this issue? I haven’t had it and it’s confusing me. If you can replicate this bug again please let me know

basically when i first joined i had items in my hotbar even though i didnt spawn in yet, its a really minor bug honestly but still technically a bug so

(maybe it only happens sometimes cuz i just rejoined to check and it didnt happen idk)

that’s odd, that shouldnt happen EVER
it might have been a one-off occasion, but if it happens again let me know
