Using the rotate tool makes parts flash

So basically what’s happening is that large portions of a map I’m working on are flashing really quickly when I try and use the rotate tool. Here is how you can repro this:

  1. Open a blank baseplate and insert a new part
  2. Resize the part to (40,4,40) and duplicate it and make an 8x8 grid of parts like this (it also works for a 4x4 grid of (80,4,80) parts)
  3. Now zoom out about as far as in the picture and select one of the parts.
  4. Finally, press cmd+4 to turn on the rotate tool and a bunch of the farther away parts should start flashing really quickly.

I can’t seem to repro this. Can you send me a copy of the place you made above, saved with the camera in the place you mentioned?

Here is what I made and all I have to do to make it happen is have the rotate tool selected and then select on of the parts. Also, I just discovered that it seems to be affected by your studio EditQualityLevel and the lower your quality the more parts close to your camera are affected. In the repro file I’ve attached you have to have your EditQualityLevel at 9 or lower to start seeing the problem. I know that might be considered kind of low but I like to have my graphics on a lower setting because my computer is a little on the older side and it runs a lot faster on lower graphics settings.

Well, that’s an interesting effect. That may be an issue with low graphics settings in Studio, since this happens to me on my Windows machine as well (It also seems related to the Arc Handles object). I’ll send this one to our rendering team and they’ll take a look. Thanks for the info about the low graphics setting.

Just had this bug myself. Turns out I was on Quality Level 1 and it doesn’t happen on the highest settings, as already mentioned.

This post is probably pointless but I thought I’d report it was happening to me as well :stuck_out_tongue:

I believe all laptops have this, I know mine does (though its a 4000, and I also have an N 660… yeah this comp is getting old)
