Really cool! Wish there was more info on the post itself as a summary. So we could easily come back and check out certain details later without having to wait for the video or skipping to a certain part.
I am happy to have been a part of this pilot program. Sometimes thumbnails don’t accurately show gameplay, so it’s nice for players to get a glimpse on what the game is all about.
Please write text next time. I do not want to have to watch a video to get the message.
Cool, will we be able to use different videos depending on what age the user is? It would be neat to have some slow paced gameplay footage for younger audiences and some higher paced gameplay footage for the older audiences.
although true, its really funny that all the details about the post are in a video, just like how the details of your game may be visible in the video preview hah
Sunsetting YouTube videos - does this mean existing YouTube video thumbnails will be taken down or just that you won’t allow new ones?
Can definitely add the text. Wanted to do a video feature launch with video ![]()
Wonder if the video will play if I hover over a game in the recommended tab. It not, this would be a great addition!
not yet. Current release is only for your game’s page. We’re still thinking through other discovery surfaces, like the Home page.
Does this mean the YT videos on the game’s page will be removed? if so, can developers expect any refund?
Aw nice! I think the amount of misleading game thumbnails would be great to see a preview of the game before you play it.
It’s frustrating to have to compete with obviously inaccurate recommendation thumbnails without making them yourself.
With these new video previews that are free, is there any chance that we will see reduced rates for video uploads (VideoFrames) if the video is under a certain length?
Awesome! Imo this will work way better than a trailer/ youtube video!
Super excited about this feature, I wasn’t ever happy with the YouTube trailer embeds due to ads and other related issues.
Free video uploads !??? So amazing, just like with audio
That’s a great feature, honestly, but the issue is I still want to be able to post a trailer of the game on the game’s page.
A trailer, with a lot of effort put into it, music, lore, etc. can be an even better way to differentiate a high-effort game.
What if I want to make a big update and create a trailer specifically for that update, one that will pop out as the first thing you see on the game’s page.
Do the videos play audio as well?
Never thought I’d see the day where a DevForum announcement has its solution as an AI response by a community member
