Violations & Appeals provides no actionable reason and leaves locked experiences impossible to remediate

My experience, Residence Massacre (Place ID: 14437001043), was locked for “Scamming” on August 4, 2026.

The moderation notice only provides a broad note covering phishing links, password requests, account sales, off-platform asset sales, and artificial inflation of experience-related numbers. It does not identify the specific asset, script, UI, text, link, or mechanic that triggered the action.

I submitted two appeals through the Violations & Appeals page. Both were denied, and I have now reached the maximum number of appeals. The appeal responses still did not identify the violating content. Roblox Support also stated that it could not provide any further information.

The notice states that automated systems were involved in the decision.

The main problem is that the experience is completely locked. I cannot open or edit it, so even though I am willing to remove any potentially noncompliant content, I have no way to do so.

One possible trigger may have been an in-game UI offering an in-game reward for joining the experience’s communications server. Verification used RoVer, and the in-game UI did not display an external link, invite code, QR code, password field, or request for credentials. Regardless of whether this feature was compliant, I am willing to remove it entirely.

At the moment, the moderation system creates an impossible situation:

  • The experience is locked.
  • The exact violating content is not identified.
  • Appeals provide no additional explanation.
  • Support redirects back to the appeal system.
  • The owner cannot edit the experience to remediate the issue.
  • After the maximum number of appeals is reached, there is no remaining path to correct the content.

This report is not asking for the moderation decision to be reversed through the Bug Reports category. The issue being reported is that the current moderation and appeal flow does not provide enough actionable information for a developer to understand or correct an alleged violation, especially when the experience itself is inaccessible.

Expected behavior

The moderation notice or appeal response should identify the specific asset, UI, text, script, link, or mechanic that caused the violation.

Alternatively, the owner should be given restricted editing access so the identified content can be removed without making the experience publicly playable.

I agree. The current moderation flow for moderated experiences is in a bit of a paradoxical state. Roblox issues moderation action upon an individual for content that is deemed against the guidelines. They request you remove the content or avoid creating things that violate the standards, while in the same light they prevent you from doing so.

This same issue happened to me before with my voice chat, as I got a warning for something that I don’t think was fair. A previous voice chat violation had the option to appeal, but then the second didn’t, meaning I was stuck with an infraction I could not resolve. This reveals a hole in the entire Violations & Appeals screen where you may get inflicted with a warning or suspension without any means to appeal it. In the case of the op, they run out of appeals which are never provided a tally for, and in those limited appeals, they were given zero information to rectify their behavior. Then, their experience demands they appeal to correct the error within the experience, but they’re now entirely out of appeals, banning the game forever.

I believe the appropriate solution for appeals is what roblox did for the Social Hangout descriptor and Private Spaces when those were first introduced. Developers could manually contact support and resolve issues specific to the Private Spaces guideline changes, and a human reviewer would reinstate if you passed. That, or Roblox should provide more information as to the specific reason one was banned for in Violations & Appeals. Editing an experience which is locked should go back to the previous behavior where you can still edit the experience, but publishing changes results in the game defaulting to a Starter template and only Saved changes take effect, allowing a human reviewer to check and enable publishing again.

This issue needs to be resolved.

Had the same appeal/support flow issue and went through the same process as you getting my game back with a similar dev forum lmao but this is a serious issue and the downtime it causes for developers is severe. I don’t know how or when Roblox will fix this as it is still happening to countless devs across the platform.

This is not a bug. If you want Roblox to give more information regarding violations you can submit a Feature Request. As for your game, chances are it contained a purchasable item which wasn’t usable by some people that paid for it or it claimed to give players a reward but didn’t give them it. Your experience also appears to be breaking the rules on Directing Users Off-Platform and appears to be encouraging users to join your communications server in a way which is disallowed. Please keep in mind I am not a Roblox Staff member and I may be incorrect.

You are wrong. It is permitted to mention/direct players off platform as long as you word it correctly and follow the rules, don’t mention discord directly and refer to it as community server while mentioning that said links can be found via the social links tab in game descriptions. Roblox also toggles the social links section depending on player age for extra safety.

Also do you mind explaining further on why this cannot be classified as a bug? There is a serious issue with Roblox’s support flow system which directly tells you to do something that you cannot.

They are making efforts to direct users off-platform in an experience. You are only allowed to do that in Social Links and in some cases, the Developer Forum, Talent Hub, certain partnered content and approved Advertising content delivered through Roblox Advertising systems. In Ban API messages, you are also allowed to mention brand names and platforms but personal information and direct links are still disallowed.

This is also not a bug as this appears to be intentional behaviour on Roblox with how their systems work.

Did you read anything I said? Also the OP got their game back and it wasn’t due to off platform links or mentions.

I did read what you said and I responded accordingly. I’m also aware that they got their game back but it’s likely going to get moderated again in the future for reasons I’ve pointed out. Just because one thing got appealed it doesn’t mean that the whole thing is compliant and it may have been missed by the person who handled the appeal.

I understand where you are coming from but with this logic/idea that directing players off platform via links from the social links tab is bannable means that 90% of games on the platform that have this feature will get banned eventually. Also a google search can tell you that it is permitted as long as you follow the correct formatting.

I do understand what you are trying to say too. In this case it appears to be disallowed though. You are allowed to tell people to check social links I believe, however you’re not allowed to tell people to join an off-platform communications server.

For example:

Check our game’s Social Links!

This would likely be allowed as it doesn’t mention the communications server and is encouraging you to use the built in Social Links feature.

Join our communications server!

This would likely be disallowed as it directly mentions the off-platform communications server.

I’m not sure where you are getting your sources from. Here is a link to a staff member talking about what is permitted.

Please avoid spreading misinformation on the forums, people are going through enough stress as in relation to moderation cases.

I’m not spreading misinformation. I am getting my information from the Community Standards and the Creator Documentation.

…okay bro both mention what is permitted and what is not clearly yet you are still saying stuff that is not true, this isn’t going anywhere I wish you luck on your endeavours.

I would like to see some concrete evidence that proves what I have said is wrong. You have failed to provide any actual evidence and from what I’ve seen your claims actually appear to be more false than mine.

I linked a direct forum link in my reply as my concrete evidence, not only that your evidence actually disproves what you are saying. You are right in some aspects just not all.

I see where you’re coming from. It appears you are allowed to tell people to join a Community Server in some cases if you explicitly say to check the Social Links as that might be considered to be encouraging users to check Social Links and not necessarily encouraging them to go off-platform. If you were to say ‘Join our communications server!’ by itself without mentioning Social Links that would still probably be disallowed though. I have read through what you linked and I see where your confusion arises.

Really glad you came around buddy.
