I recently received a moderation warning because my username was “lilimoisie_yt”. According to the moderation message, the “_yt” part is considered as directing users to another platform.
What confuses me is that I have used this username for a long time without any issues. Instead of simply requiring me to change it, my account received a warning that is now part of my moderation history, and my username was automatically changed to a generic one.
I’m not trying to argue against the policy itself if “_yt” is no longer allowed. My concern is that the username had existed for a long time before this action was taken. It feels unfair to receive a moderation warning for something that was previously accepted.
I also think it’s unreasonable for users to be penalized for something that Roblox previously allowed. If a username passed moderation for years and later no longer complies with updated policies, that shouldn’t automatically result in a warning on the user’s moderation history. In my opinion, this is a situation created by Roblox’s previous moderation decisions, not by users intentionally trying to bypass the rules.
Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to require a username change without affecting the account’s moderation history in cases like this?
same thing happened to me, got my username resetted and i got warned, reached out to roblox support, they restored my username, then they said “we have noticed your username does not violate the tos, we will make sure this won’t happen again”, 3 days later i got a 1 day ban for username, appealed again, 18 hours later they restored my username again and changed my ban to a warning then i manually changed it myself, which results me in losing 1,000 robux :[
(might be wrong about the message since i don’t have the best of memory)
