Back in April or so I wanted to work on my first project with a group of developers and I found a listing on the Talent Hub for updating an unreleased donation game. I submitted an application but no one responded to me within a couple of days (learned later I was the only one who applied). So I did some digging and found out the owner of the game was a YouTuber (~90,000 subs now) and I had to spam his livestream chat just to get in touch (
#1).
I was originally tasked with updating TextChatService but that spiraled into headtags which spiraled into creating UI and eventually led to me being chosen as the lead developer. I obviously went back and forth with the YouTuber for how much I would be paid but he kept declining my offer, stating that even 35% is too high (
#2). Keep in mind I was the only person committed to be a long-term dev for the game-- everyone else was commissioned. The amount I settled on was 20%. This really made me disappointed and furious considering the owner (and co-owner) combined got 4x the amount of profit as I did despite them literally doing NO WORK. I still really wanted to accept this because I thought that I wouldn’t be able to find another job offer anywhere. I also thought that 20% may still be a good amount of Robux for a first donation game. I eventually ended up doing 5+ hours of work daily on the game for almost 2 months. Keep in mind that was on SCHOOL NIGHTS after school/homework. It was even more on weekends.
After a couple of weeks of development, a lot of the other devs had left and new ones came in – in fact I met a new person every couple days. The game was not organized at all in any way and the fact that I still wanted a higher commission led me to keep asking the YouTuber for a higher %. He even suggested that I only get 10% of the earnings. He had enough of it and called me slurs and sweared horribly right to me (
#3). So I quit.
But a week or so later I just felt bored and so I decided to go back. Couldn’t be too bad, right? I mean I already spent dozens of hours on it. But this is possibly my biggest regret. Again, I spent several hours on it a day and was told that the game would be making a lot of Robux and to consider that even a small % of it would be good.
At this point it was only me who was working on the game as the map was finished and the effects were basically done. The game finally released and there was a good amount a people playing it (~8-10 CCU). It actually generated a good amount of Robux within the first week or so (due to a specifically large donation) but after that the game died out… And spoiler, now it gets like 1 visit per week (which is 0 Robux).
Fast-forward to now and I join the game and notice someone donated 15,000 Robux recently (which means I would get 300 Robux) so I reach out to the YouTuber on Discord to ask him to pay me but he hasn’t responded in days (has been online on Discord + online on Roblox). Additionally he has threatened to “ghost me” (not pay me) (
#4) last time I asked to be paid (which took a lot of effort). He leaves me everytime I join and it seems like he thinks I don’t exist.
Is there any way to report people like this? I don’t think the default and built in report buttons on a user’s profile do much. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else and want to be paid what I am owed. I have more than a hundred screenshots of message logs, place files, and development images to support this.
Any help is appreciated.
