There’s a lot to go through this week, so let’s get right into it.
Remember - we keep information at a high level within these recaps. For more information or to leave feedback, please comment on their official announcements linked below.
Following recent feedback regarding inappropriate user behavior on Roblox, we’re sharing updates on how we plan to address these situations, including:
Clarifying of our policies and launching of more advanced detection methods
New restrictions on content that depicts private spaces (like bedrooms and bathrooms) and spaces intended for adults (like nightclubs)
Updated restrictions on unrated experiences
Expanded engagement channels with creators moving forward
In this episode of Roblox Tech Talks, founder and CEO David Baszucki sits down with Chief Safety Officer Matt Kaufman and Senior Director of Product Policy Eliza Jacobs to discuss how Roblox is advancing its commitment to safety, civility, and freedom on the platform.
Since our last Creator Roadmap update, we’ve shipped 40 features that were on the roadmap, closed over 1400 bugs, and added 18 new items to the roadmap.
We’re hard at work on the 200+ items currently on the roadmap, including Custom Matchmaking, server authority, configs, and more. We’ll share another roadmap update after RDC.
We’re excited to introduce a new API in Studio beta: ViewportDisplaySize! This adaptive property makes it easy to build responsive, cross-platform UI by helping you tailor your UI to the physical viewing size of a player’s screen.
The API categorizes the physical size of a player’s screen into Small, Medium, or Large classifications.
A few months ago, we announced that we planned to run an automatic translation experiment to fill in missing translations in experiences, with the goal of improving playtime and retention for players around the world.
We’ve now run the experiment and are excited to share some positive results for experiences that are not presently translated, and what we want to do next for the community.
On September 15th, 2025, HttpService will start automatically using HTTP/2 if the server it is connecting to supports it.
A caveat of this feature that may affect your services is that when using HTTP/2, HttpService must convert all header names to lowercase in compliance with RFC 7540.
Roblox is inherently cross‑platform. To support an expanding suite of platforms, creators should build user interfaces that seamlessly adapt to the input type (touch, gamepad, mouse/keyboard), screen size, and device orientation.
This guide and the adaptive design guide can help you design a true cross‑platform experience that’s compatible, accessible, and enjoyable on all platforms.
Roblox is able to ban all Schlep accessories before they turn one day old, while Bathroom simulator stays up for months and gets popular. They can do a really good job with moderation, but only when it hurts investors. It’s pathetic.
Hey look! Bathroom public RP has a new event! I really like the “Pivot” text at the groin region. It show exactly what the game is about and what the predator wants💀 How does roblox see the “Pivot” label and go “Yeah, we want this on this platform”?
——
I am not going to rate the announcements this week because I don’t want to give them any bonus points for doing other stuff besides improving moderation.
——
There are no topics I feel should be mentioned this week. Your only goal right now should be is protecting kids. You are in a bad spot right now. Roblox’s lack of moderation plus the fact you ban people that do moderate…
——
See you next week, Robloxians… it just feels yucky to say that now.
There have been one or two steps in the right direction this week, specifically just a few hours ago. I will say I like the UIDisplaySize stuff.
However, on the topic of strengthening safety, you got a looooooooooooooong way to go. You need hire more moderators, file more reports to NCMEC (a certain adult site reports 5k, that’s closer to how many you guys report compared to other social media sites with hundreds of thousands. That is really bad), allow people to help you guys moderate such a big platform, and more.
Once you do that, then sure, we’ll have a good week.
Something I don’t see is a note on using .Activated over .MouseButton1Down and whatnot. It can simplify code and supports all input (touch, gamepad cursor/selection press, and mouse).
Also, I tried making my own comprehensive slideshow for supporting console for an Inspire presentation. I didn’t hear back, but I can put the half-baked thing here if anyone’s interested: Supporting Console for Roblox Games.pdf (74.8 KB)
tbf the pivot point would be in that exact spot in the image and it is an animation creator update, but it is weird that they chose to only display the pivot point and not like bones or anything else and how its only on the female character
It’s wild to me that we continue down the path of parental control when it’s been clear over the years that parental control, scalability and censorship does nothing but hurt this platform.
Lack of parent’s being accountable for their own children and what they do online is hurting a lot of users that are well above the age where that matters.
The 17+ hangout games thing is absurd btw. What’s stopping someone from just… lying on the questionnaire? Nobody checks it, it’s just auto-approved once you do it. The questionnaire itself is flawed and should probably be entirely reworked so that it’s more like the ESRB rather than the proprietary format Roblox has developed. (Like what the actual hell do you mean my game gets the equivalent of an M for mature AND REQUIRES ID VERIFICATION because the word “fuck” is present at one point within the entire game. ESRB would rate that Everyone 10+, maybe Teen at absolute maximum).
I have been saying this for years. Since 2017 to be exact. But the way this platform is going is simply in the gutter. I cannot realistically expect any positive outcome from moderation because it’s all a stupid AI. I can’t see when Roblox actually takes action on users because of “privacy” (although Steam has absolutely zero issue with it) so I’m always left to assume nothing happened. Despite being 19 and having verified my ID, I still cannot chat with other adult friends in games without every single word being censored. DMCA just gets flat out ignored and people copy items and games without a care in the world. Roblox takes way too much of a cut from developers. There’s still an entire stock market built into the catalog that kids are ENCOURAGED to gamble on. Roblox is completely opaque with everything they do and lies through their teeth when criticised. Roblox makes it impossible for new developers to get a foothold. There’s so much more I can add here, but I don’t think I need to at this point.
ROBLOX IS BIGGER THAN NINTENDO, AS WELL AS SEVERAL OTHER MAJOR GAME DEVELOPMENT COMPANIES. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY ZERO EXCUSE FOR THIS PLATFORM TO BE IN THE POSITION IT IS NOW. I am absolutely disgusted and appalled. Unban Schlep, Fire Matthew Kaufman and Fire David Baszucki. These people are NOT fit to be running this company.
Roblox either needs more moderators or moderators that actually go on the site. maybe even both. it takes 5 seconds to look up something inappropriate in the search and you’ll see many games/user that violate TOS. stop thinking about money and start thinking about the safety of your users. also if u want to make a dating site do it on a new seperate site, roblox being a dating site is a horrible idea given roblox mainly consists of kids (the dating aspect being 17+ is also interesting to say the least…), better yet, DONT DO IT AT ALL.
(one more thing, you can’t ban schlep for protecting the platform you barely protect yourself, you could just work with him. make schlep a moderator so he can protect the platform better)
im not targeting the OP, this is mainly for the people that moderate roblox.
