Weekly Recap: December 8 - December 12, 2025

Hi Everyone!

And with that, the 2025 season comes to an end…

Today’s recap will be the last for this year, as we wrap up and take a break. But have no fear, we have a couple more things in store — including our Creator Roadmap and Year in Review!

Happy holidays, and see you in the new year :waving_hand::confetti_ball:

Remember - we keep information at a high level within these recaps. For more information or to leave feedback, please comment on their official announcements linked below.

Betas and Tests

[Studio Beta] Build Fair, Responsive Games with Server Authority

  • Server Authority provides a powerful networking model for building fair, responsive, and cheat-resistant competitive games on Roblox by making the server the single source of truth.

[Studio Beta] 4k Texture rendering

  • 4k Texture Rendering is now in Studio Beta, supporting up to 4096x4096 resolution.
  • It utilizes existing Texture Streaming to deliver high-quality images on capable devices without increasing memory or crash rates on lower-end hardware.

Announcements

New Requirements to Publish and Update Public Experiences

  • We’re updating requirements to publish or update a public experience to make it more difficult for bad actors to spam copycat or inappropriate experiences from burner accounts.
  • The majority of publishing creators are already eligible and no action will be required. You can check your eligibility here.

Removing partially or fully invisible heads from Marketplace & Inventories

  • Effective immediately, we are removing these non-compliant items from the Marketplace and from user inventories.
  • We will not be administering moderation strikes or account consequences for these previously uploaded assets.
  • The items will be immediately removed from user inventories, and Roblox will automatically issue a full refund within the next seven business days to all impacted users.

Prompt players to join Communities from in-experience!

  • Creators can now use the new client-side engine API, GroupService:PromptJoinAsync, to seamlessly prompt players to join a community directly within an experience.

A new way to test before launch: Experience Betas

  • Experience Betas is a new testing feature for creators that allows them to test experiences with a select audience for better feedback and launch control, without appearing on Home Recommendations.
  • Creators can iterate privately or in beta, use key analytics and a new Player Feedback API for monitoring, and set benchmarks to determine when to launch.

Introducing Texture Streaming

  • A new system live on PC and Mac (rolling out to others), enhances performance by dynamically loading and unloading texture quality based on device memory and object importance (distance/screen size).
  • The key features include improved perceived loading speed and reduced download size. Furthermore, this approach minimizes Out of Memory (OOM) crashes and guarantees that essential objects retain superior visual fidelity.

Introducing new Creator Reward Analytics: Better Data, Better Decisions

  • Key updates include New Reward Penetration Metrics, Granular Share Link Analytics for external marketing ROI, and Enhanced Visualization Tools like Annotations and flexible time comparisons.

Introducing a New Navigation for Creator Hub

  • A brand-new navigation experience has been introduced to make it easier to access tools and resources, addressing the growing number of tools over the years.
  • The update includes a persistent sidebar for quick access, an improved group switcher for better sorting, a smoother mobile experience, and a simplified, logical structure for seamless movement between creations, tools, and pages.

Improved Auto-Skinning Transfer for Eyebrows & Eyelashes

  • You can now create Eyebrows and Eyelashes as part of a Dynamic Head bundle, and in the future we’ll allow for Eyebrows and Eyelashes to be sold on Marketplace and swapped in the Avatar Editor.

Upcoming Change: Removing Item Tags from Avatar Publishing Flow

  • We’re removing the Item Tags field from the avatar item publishing and configuration flow on the Creator Dashboard.
  • Avatar Item Tags are no longer used by our systems. They do not influence search rankings or recommendations and they are not surfaced on item details page.

Removing System Badges from Profiles

  • We’re removing system badges from Profiles in early 2026.
  • We want to simplify the Profile experience and make space for more impactful, personalized features.

Your Brand New Cloud API Reference Documentation is Here

  • All documented Roblox HTTP APIs can now be found either by domain or by use-case. Both the feature and domain-based references include the full-set of documented Roblox HTTP APIs, whether they were considered “Cloud V1/V2” or “Legacy.”
  • We now format all endpoint information in the same way. The stability level, supported authentication types, and recommended alternative endpoints (if any) are now documented clearly, and provide suggestions on how each endpoint should be used.

Buy and Sell Models on the Creator Store

  • Eligible creators with verified accounts and good moderation history can now sell Models on the Creator Store - a new way to earn on Roblox.

Introducing Off-Platform Featuring for Creator Events

  • We’re excited to roll out the Off-Platform Featuring Program, a new way for your experiences’ events and updates to reach a global off-platform audience.
  • This update connects the existing Events & Updates feature in Creator Hub to off-platform placements on the App Store, Google Play, and Roblox’s marketing channels, giving players more ways to discover and re-engage with your experiences.

Logitech Device Issues with Roblox Studio

  • We’ve been made aware of an issue with some Logitech force feedback devices that can cause a crash while opening a place.
  • We are working to resolve this issue but in the meantime, unplugging the device should prevent the crash from happening.

Making Avatar Rendering More Performant

  • We are excited to announce that we have made substantial performance-focused improvements to FastCluster and Layered Clothing rendering systems. This should resolve some long-standing issues with player avatars causing framerate drops in your experiences.

  • While the FastCluster improvements outlined below are active immediately, additional optimizations for Layered Clothing will go live in January 2026.

Updates

Age Checks to Access Chat, Studio Team Create, and Links on Roblox

  • Users in Australia, New Zealand, and the Netherlands who are age-checked and within similar age groups can now chat with users globally.

Updates to RFY Algorithm Signals

  • We made changes to the signals used in the Recommended for you (RFY) ranking algorithm. For most experiences, this will result in minimal to no impact.
    • Play sessions in reserved servers are now counted as intentional co-play.
    • We fixed bugs to ensure clicks and plays are attributed only from Recommended for you for all signals.

Updates to Home and Search

  • We’re making the first two positions of the Continue sort fixed to your two most recently played games.
  • We’re introducing one-click tags for popular genre searches on the search landing page as a way to expedite how users find new content

This topic was automatically opened after 14 minutes.

This week saw some updates that the community didn’t favor, such as requiring verification to publish games and removing Roblox badges from profile pages.

However, there were a few other updates that I do like, such as removing invisible UGC heads that replicate Headless and a way for players to join groups in game. The new 4K texture update is also pretty cool.

genuinely kinda a 3/10 week because of the amount of bad stuff. 4k textures and game betas are cool, but the rest of the stuff is either kinda “meh” or a bad change. going forward we should really space out the changes that nobody likes :sob:

nice job sugarcoating that

This week was gonna be a 5/10, but then we got hit with bad updates so it’s down to something so low, that it’s worse than 0/10

:skull:/10

What the actual hell were you all thinking.

This week pretty mid.

:sparkles: My rating: 124/150

Removing System Badges from Profiles and New Requirements to Publish and Update Public Experiences both sucked a ton.

The rating is high because of the many good announcements such as the texture streaming and the 4k textures and the group prompts are awesome. It may be a cover up for bad updates but they are really good updates
——

Some features that the community wants:

  1. Let us squish text
  2. Let us use :GetClosestPointOnSurface() in Parallel
  3. Emojies should allow UI stroke
  4. Let us choose how big the lighting grid is

See you next week, Robloxians!

@WinterStorm_Meow has some competition. You better start rating years!

What if I start rating decades?

if this is the case then I shall make a yearly rating

I am first going talk about most things that happen this year!

Improvements on security

It is clear that roblox has been focused on security this entire year, even before the Schlep situation. One of the first announcements of 2025 was about wanting to up their security in bots. Then it was preventing animations and sounds from being stolen. Then being the huge removal of experiences from maturity rating update. And by the end of the year, it evolved into experiences being hard to be re-uploaded and preventing bad people back on website. Even server authority is a type of security upgrade to prevent hackers. They achieved their goal of upping their security, even if people were calling every new security update the worst. Schlep and Teddy only helped them identify weak spots in their year long plan. (Also please do not harass Schlep, Roblox has made it clear that he wasn’t the reason why security happened. It was Roblox’s plan to up their security and not one single person. Get mad at Roblox and not a random person on the internet)

Quality of life

They have also tried to modernize the platform even more, removing things like system badges, old studio UI and removing the the green play button…

But mainly studio was focused on, as the explorer and ribbon got an overhaul. There was also using new Licensed IPs in your game and commenting in studio. Along with performance improvements like BasePart sleep system getting an upgrade and texture streaming. DevEx rate was also increased to help developers.

Long awaited features

These are features in which we have been waiting for a while for:

:sparkles: My yearly rating: 87/100

This year was fine, but I hope Roblox focuses on the underdeveloped GUI features they give to developers as that is very, VERY wanted by the community.

See you next year, Robloxians!

Now the decade, score, century, millennia, and of course the eon.
Let’s see how you do!

Thanks for the question! We’re showing your two most recently played games for ease of access, while also showing other previously played games that might be relevant to you. You can also see all of your recently visited games from the search landing page.

I wish to have an easy access to truly recently played games though that doesn’t rely on searching

Do you work within that department and should I feature request a change?

Hmmmm, maybe decade, but the other ones seem like big numbers
