Rip old explorer

Mostly great stuff, except for the questionable Creator Rewards change.

Also, I assume Roblox is already aware, but please fix studio ASAP:

These issues have been going on for basically a full week now and it’s severally harming development.

It was an alright week. The usual inappropriate game getting on the front page and Roblox banning their own game and the servers dying for 40 minutes, pretty normal. But I am rating just on announcements.

——

:sparkles: My rating: 32/50

The Explorer did not need to be out of beta this early. It had many bugs and issues that forced developers to download files to bring back the old explorer. Not to mention the low amount of customization and performance that was said to happen. The new creator rewards don’t seem too good either.

——

Topics I feel should be mentioned:

Studio crashes after play test: Studio "freezes" after playtest

Better UIGradient properties would be nice: GradientStyle & Custom Gradient Texture input

Add a Bot service to easily test with multiple players without opening 10 windows: BotService - Create and control fake players

A bunch of feature requests:

See you next week, Robloxians!

It is sad how the new beta explorer was pushed out… we cant even enable old explorer since we are pretty much forced to use the new one when it has far less features, causing me to change a few methods that I was accustomed to. but dw we will adjust eventually :sob:

You can get the old explorer back by doing some stuff with fflags.

oh sick, I’ll take a look later

That’s great, a rushed explorer launch and a feature that didn’t have more than 2 minutes of thought put into it that will screw over all the devs that don’t have infinitely replayable and over-monetized games in charts, and what’s occlusion culling doing here, is it still unfinished?

First, youll need this:

(Or any other way to edit FFlags for Studio)

Then, the new explorer can be reverted by changing these flags:

'NewExplorer': true -> false
'KillOldExplorer3': true -> false

Now, reopen Studio and you should have the old explorer!

If I had to guess in which direction all the announcements are taking us, I’m definitly pointing towards a very specific thing.

The different menus that have been revamped, taken out of beta, while models and packages have been given the flexibility they need to have for this release - they all indicate it.

I’m talking about the full release of Next Gen Studio, which I can smell from 6000 miles away (literally)

That’s why I also appreciate the German team being present near Europe this year and have already suggested a participation from Roblox at the leisure fair in South Tyrol in the North of Italy as this would be an ideal opportunity for different cultured developers to connect with each other in person.
