Weekly Recap: November 17 - 21, 2025

Hi Everyone!

We announced a lot of exciting updates as we gear up for Thanksgiving :turkey: Heads up, we will not be posting a weekly recap next week for Thanksgiving, but keep an eye out for any announcements on Monday and Tuesday.

Remember - we keep information at a high level within these recaps. For more information or to leave feedback, please comment on their official announcements linked below.

Announcements

Stay in the Loop with Email Digests for Studio Comments

  • We’re happy to introduce an exciting feature that will help you collaborate with others: Email Digests for Studio Comments.
  • Now you can receive email updates about comment activity happening in your places directly in your email inbox. This means you can stay on top of feedback and jump back into your projects faster, even when you’re not in Studio.

Introducing ReflectionService: Programmatic Access to Engine API Information

  • We’re excited to announce the release of ReflectionService, a new service that allows you to programmatically inspect the Roblox engine’s API surface.
  • You can use ReflectionService to create systems that depend on changes to the API surface and leverage information about the engine API, such as API inspection plugins to analyze and use new API releases and better instance class changing plugins for faster workflows in Studio.

Age Checks to Access Chat, Studio Team Create, and Links on Roblox

  • Our top priority is keeping our community safe, and we’re going further to unlock chat and age-appropriate experiences for our users by requiring them to complete an age check through Facial Age Estimation or ID verification.
  • Once the age check is complete, users will only be allowed to chat with others in similar age groups, unless they become Trusted Connections with people they know. We’re also adding age check requirements early next year for the Team Create Collaborate feature in Studio and social media links.

Get Aim Assist in Studio Templates, or Add It to Your Experience

  • We’re excited to announce that Roblox now provides Aim Assist out-of-the-box in our FPS and Laser Tag Studio templates!
  • Aim Assist (AA) is a critical feature for leveling the playing field for players on different input devices. Our new, reusable module makes it easy for you to build a game from scratch with AA already embedded or integrate it into your own experience, giving your players a better-feeling experience with minimal setup on your end.

Ads Manager Updates: Home + Search Combined, New Benchmarks and Sunsetting the Classic Flow ads

  • We’re excited to share the latest range of Ads Manager upgrades. Our goal is for Ads Manager to be a sidekick for your growth goals, helping you reach and retain more users in simple ways at low costs.

[General Release] Luau’s New Type Solver

  • We’re happy to announce the next steps for Luau’s New Type Solver Studio Beta! With this update, we’ll be moving out of Studio Beta for both the New Type Solver and Non-Strict by Default.
  • In this release, we’re rolling out the New Type Solver to all users of nocheck and non-strict mode, alongside a new collection of Scripting workspace properties that you can configure to enable or disable the New Type Solver and to set the default typechecking mode for scripts.

New Group Permissions for Secrets

  • We recently rolled out several updates to Group roles in Creator Hub to give you and your team more granular control over managing secrets.
  • In the past, only group owners could handle secrets-related tasks, which created bottlenecks in team development workflows. With the new permission updates, you can now delegate these responsibilities to group members, helping your team collaborate more efficiently and move faster.

An update on the New, Flexible Studio UI

  • We have done another full rollout with a minor settings reset since the compact layout is the new default. If you prefer the less compact layout, you can change this in the right click menu options. There’s more details on the different ways you can customize your interface.
  • We have decided to remain a Beta feature during the critical holiday period to not risk disrupting creators. We will leave beta in early January where it will become the standard interface of Studio.

Announcing Observability Dashboard for HttpService

  • We are announcing the launch of the HttpService Observability dashboard. This new page on the Creator Dashboard provides real-time visibility into your Experiences’ HttpService usage, allowing you to monitor request performance and debug issues more effectively.

Updates

[Client Beta] Input Action System is now available to publish in experiences!

  • We’ve loved seeing all of your excitement and feedback about IAS! We’re hard at work adding new functionality to IAS and wanted to share a quick update. Specifically, we’ve added three new features and fixed 5 bugs.

So we’re not going to talk about… that?

This week is harsh… so I made two ratings lol

——

:sparkles: My rating on the Scan Face to use chat announcement: 0/100

We already know why I gave this a zero out of 100. This only makes it easier for people to talk to children. They can steal a child’s account and now they will have unlimited chat with children of that age group.

:sparkles: My rating on the other announcements: 68/80

The other announcements felt like they were trying to cover up the drama but none were too bad. The new studio UI definitely needs some new icons because it looks a bit strange at the moment.

——

Some features that the community wants:

  1. Give us better sky object
  2. Let us pixelate SurfaceAppearances
  3. Let us use color correction effect in viewports
  4. Let us choose how big the lighting grid is
    ——

See you next week, Robloxians!

Edit:
Also here is the Doomsday timers for when chat restrictions get added.

Age check is what ruined this whole week.
Perhaps worst recap so far.

Helpful tip: No one likes the age checks and your game is deteriorating at an Insane rate

Other announcements are solid though

My personal interpretation of this week:

  • Announced that we will be terminating a core part of the platform by locking it behind 3rd party age verification cause of “safety”
  • Extensively lied by saying that the age-verification photos are immediately deleted – which they are not. By agreeing to Persona’s TOS (which you must do to submit an age verification), you agree to have your face “stored” anywhere from 30 days to forever if they deem it necessary.
  • Announced that we will be permanently eliminating the old studio and replacing it with almost the same thing but different enough to confuse you for at least a month after enabling it
  • Several other small updates to get the age verification announcement off the main devforum page

For reference, here’s what Roblox wants us to agree to to use their chat as of January: https://withpersona.com/legal/privacy-policy

Once upon a time, Staff replied under this post saying it’s being worked on, only for the messages to be removed. I contacted the Staff member themselves and they told me this will be added eventually. I wonder when that’ll be!

This company stresses me out man.

The age check to use chat, and restricting users only to be able to communicate with other users from the arbitrarily established age brackets will render most roleplay, strategy, co-op and other games relying on communication UNPLAYABLE! Many games’ playerbase will drop significantly! Developers won’t be able to interact with players on their experiences or moderate them!
In-game chat is one of the core features of this platform, and is an inseparable part of most experiences! DON’T FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THAT UPDATE!

Roblox see how their “security” and “safety” update will do nothing but harm their platform even more and make the problem so much worse challenge: Impossible!!

Seriously, what’s stopping some creep from creating a new account, using a younger family member (or bribing a child) to “verify” the account age and then getting unlimited, unviewable, unreportable chat to minors?
If we can’t see any harmful messages, we can’t do anything to stop it.

Also, just the obvious massive security risk that this is. What happened to “Hey kids! Don’t put pictures of yourself online!”

Internet “Safety” in the big 25 is an absolute joke.

I give this week 0/100, solely because of the age check. Do better!

Genuinely what happened to parents watching their children when they’re online?

I’m pretty sure no one is excited for the Age Check update that nobody asked for.

You’re simply killing the community with your actions. Age verification for chat? Are you kidding me?

You can see no one likes the new age check that’s coming at all , let me tell you something its so easy for kids to be verified older , my little brother is id verified as 21+ because my parents help him

Would be a decent week if that “Chat Verification” weren’t to happen. One data breach and its all over, which is concerning.

Your current approach may inadvertently be aiding those who prey on children. With this approach, attackers can easily identify a child’s age group and thus carry out targeted attacks. This is a serious security risk and needs to be reconsidered.
