Weird studio update error

note: while i was writing the post, it updated and launched studio, but i think this should be reviewed

the studio exe launches multiple update tasks and every of them returning a critical error saying “cannot update studio because another installer is opened”

I have this issue too. After seeing this, opening any place crashed studio (including new empty baseplate). I reinstalled studio, which didn’t fix it. I then found that some of my local plugins are causing the crashes, by removing them one by one. These plugins didn’t change at all (again; they’re local), and were working perfectly fine before.

not sure whats going on, but i just attempted to open studio and the installer opened twice with the error “Installer encountered a critical error”, with extra details stating that i had opened the installer multiple times when i didnt. its opened now, but if it happens again i will update this main message with images of it happening

tried opening studio around 5 times, and im not sure if its my internet speeds (which right now are ungodly slow) or if it was with roblox itself, since it would usually open once with an error message saying i had no connection. not really sure what else to put here since its quite strange, and it created way more log files than it should have, opened studio 6 times in total and i have 12 log files

Expected behavior

Studio should only open 1 installer which should succeed in downloading the latest version of studio

If you still need an image this happened to me as well (2 installers, 1 with an error)

for me it had the error on both

not sure what the inconsistency there would be but that is even weirder how you got it on 1 instead of both

is there a fix for this? i’m having this issue as well, i can’t open studio for some reason

it opened studio 3 times i have no idea why

(EDIT: it randomly updated itself despite me not doing anything and now it works, this is really weird, but i guess its fixed now)

having this issue too

Hi there,

Sorry that some of you’re seeing this dialog. We’re aware of the issue, and it has already been fixed internally. The dialog should not cause any real problems and can safely be ignored and closed.

If you run into any issues updating Studio, feel free to DM us the Studio and Installer logs, and we’ll be happy to take a look.

Thanks,
