What are people OK with?

So I’ve been working on a cops-and-robbers game of my own design for longer that I’d have liked to (5 years now),
and have finished most of the the core gameplay functions long ago.

But with each iteration of / upgrade to what I’m doing, I’ve been increasingly ambitious with the graphics, graduating and upgrading from textured block-built layouts, to ported low-fidelity models, to PBR support, and then finally to fully modeled, combination mesh + CSG assemblies for everything…
And have only now realized that I’ve outpaced what I’m feasibly able to do for cars.
My map’s performance optimization at this point also isn’t the best, and it also doesn’t help that I’ve bitten off more than I can chew when it comes to vehicle customization + saving- And if nothing else, my game at least needs to be graphically consistent with itself at the end of the day.

So I want to ask all of you, as both developers and players,
What are you OK with?
On a scale from 2007 block builds, to AAA, Roblox-endorsed showcase art direction, where should I land from here?
I know that in the end, the gameplay is still the most important thing, but graphics are still a component/selling point more today than ever before-
and I’m really not sure where my middle ground should be at least in regards to ROBLOX, if not relative to all the games out there ever.

Thanks for thinking about it, I’m stuck!

Hey, I’m being really stupid here. Are you asking for advice on what era of Roblox building you should build your game in? I didn’t understand what you meant lol.

Pretty much, but moreso what the least people are used to seeing is

The whole “classic” vibe is being used A LOT recently even for games that are not “classic” people use it because it’s easy to build and the Roblox Classic event didn’t help either. You don’t see a lot of 2016-2019 style games… They are like the in-between of modern 2023-2024 games and 2012-2015 games.
