What can I add to my game to keep stray players until more people joins?

Hello,

I made a simple round-based competetive (score chasing) game, which has an obvious problem - there’s no joy in it for solo players. One can still play the rounds, but it’s just not very fun, nor challenging. I’m trying to build some kind obbies and secret areas around the arena to keep players in, but it might not be enough… What else can I do?

One option would be to run ads, but game is poorly monetized and constant flow of players would require a lot of money and really good creatives. Second, would be improving the single player game, but I don’t know how to do that, yet.

My game is called Snouty Tiles (I also need a better name… and thumbnail)

Thank you for any kind of feedback!

Is it legal to one a week bump your own threads here?

Alright so…
I played the game and it’s honestly pretty good. Sound effects, music and UI is superb. Well done.

However there are a few things that I think might hinder your game taking off.

  1. Firstly, the building style doesn’t quite fit the game in my opinion.

The game seems designed toward a younger crowd that likes to play minigames with their friends. However you used a mid/high poly style to create your game with terrane and roblox textures. For me, this seems to take away from the light-hearted music and gameplay.

  1. The custom player movement is hard to use.

I found it difficult to maneuver my character if I fly forward whenever I jump. I highly agree with the idea that this game should have some custom player movement but I would recommend rethinking the current system.

Honestly a solid game idea. I hope that it will be successful. Good luck!

Thank you very much, that is some really really great feedback there. I didn’t even think about these points myself and they make total sense. For custom movement I only tried double jumps and adding some air control, but while former feels nice, I did severely underdevelop the latter.

I will look into removing the terrain (clearly, it was my first time using that tool, so I didn’t think much if it fits) and build something to fit the arena aesthetics more.

The lack of singleplayer activities will still drag it down, but I feel like rebuilding the surroundings from scratch might open up more options for more natural obbies and secret rooms.

Once more, thank you. Gave a lot to think about, but it’s for the greater good!
